My statement on Burlington Stores Headquarters Moving to Philadelphia ⬇️

This is a huge day for the City of Philadelphia. Not only are we welcoming a major retail company to our city, bringing job and economic opportunity, but Burlington Stores’ decision to relocate its headquarters here highlights Philadelphia’s position as a place where businesses can grow and thrive. Philadelphia has so much to offer, and when companies choose to put down roots here, the positive impact is felt across our entire city.

I thank Governor Josh Shapiro and Mayor Cherelle L. Parker for their leadership in this effort and their ongoing support for our city and our Commonwealth. I look forward to working with my colleagues, including Councilmember Jamie Gauthier Vincent Hughes and Rep. Amen Brown to give Burlington Stores a warm Philadelphia welcome, while also building on this momentum and strengthening Philadelphia’s reputation as a great place to do business.

Philadelphia’s cultural institutions are part of the heart and history of our city. The potential closure of the Academy of Natural Sciences would be a tremendous loss for generations of Philadelphians.

With serving nearly 3,000 young people who have visited our Community Evening Resource Centers (CERCs) more than 80,000 times, seeing the impact of this work is a dream come true for me.

Special thanks to JJC of Phila (especially Jeanine and their amazing leadership team) Philadelphia Department of Human Services Commissioner Kimberly Ali and Deputy Commissioner of Juvenile Justice Services Gary Williams, Office of Children & Families Deputy Mayor Vanessa Garrett Harley, and all of our CERC teams across all 6 centers who make it their mission everyday to do the work on behalf of our young people in the City of Philadelphia!
