Among the many things I love about Montgomery Township are our parks and trails.

This peaceful spot is located on a wooded trail near Spring Valley Park. Benches tucked along the path offer a place to sit for a while, listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy the tranquility.

We are fortunate to have many beautiful places like this right here in our own community that are free and available to all. Be sure to get outside and explore everything Montgomery Township has to offer.

As Chair of the Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors, I think it’s important to seek out new ideas and continually look for ways we can improve how we conduct our meetings, communicate with residents, make decisions and serve our taxpayers. No matter how long you’ve been in public service, there is always more to learn.

Toward that end, I spent the past two days in State College at the PSATS Board Chair Retreat, joining township supervisors and board chairs from across PA to learn, exchange ideas and share best practices.

Over the course of the retreat, we heard from a variety of speakers on topics ranging from running effective public meetings and complying with PA’s Sunshine Law to crisis communications, navigating personnel matters and other challenges facing local governments. Just as valuable were the conversations with fellow municipal leaders about what’s working well in their communities and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

The retreat was held at Toftrees Golf Resort, and while I didn’t manage to get in any golf, we did take a group excursion to Penn State’s campus to enjoy some ice cream at the Berkey Creamery! 😋🍨

I returned a pound or two heavier 😉 but also equipped with some great ideas to share with my Board colleagues and staff as we continue working to make Montgomery Township government as effective, transparent and responsive as possible.

There’s a fair amount of rain in the forecast this week, so if you’re looking for a fun way to keep the kids or grandkids entertained, head over to the North Wales Area Library!

They’ve got a great lineup of activities, including storytimes, LEGO fun, Kindergarten Prep, crafts, STEM programs, and more. There’s something for children of all ages to enjoy while staying dry and making the most of a rainy day.

Earlier today, I was pleased to join my Board colleague, Eric Pelletier, and others for a tour of the new Penn Medicine facility that’s currently under construction. Having visited the site around this time last year, I was amazed by how much progress has been made.

A big thank you to Matt Walsh and the team at Butz Construction for taking the time to walk us through the project and explain the remarkable amount of planning and coordination happening behind the scenes.

One of the most interesting aspects of the tour was learning how some of the exam rooms and restrooms are being built off-site (locally) as fully assembled “pods” before being delivered and connected to the building’s electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. It’s an innovative approach that improves quality, efficiency, and consistency.

The project is also being designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, with approximately 224 geothermal wells drilled nearly 600 feet into the ground to help heat and cool the building. Even the windows have been thoughtfully designed with a subtle dotted pattern to help prevent bird strikes.

Beyond the impressive engineering, what stood out most was the attention to detail, the emphasis on safety, and the teamwork required to bring a project of this scale to life. It’s easy to drive past a construction site without appreciating the thousands of decisions that go into every phase of the work.

Construction is expected to be completed in April 2027, with the first patients anticipated to be welcomed in October 2027.

It was also nice that today’s tour took place in slightly cooler weather. Our first visit was on a day when temperatures topped 100 degrees. At 84 degrees, today was a much more comfortable opportunity to see firsthand how this exciting project continues to take shape.

Juneteenth commemorates both the end of slavery in the United States and the enduring pursuit of liberty, justice, and equal opportunity for all.

As we reflect on this important day, we honor the resilience, contributions, and achievements of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history. We also recognize that the work of building a more just and equitable society continues.

Today, and every day, may we recommit ourselves to treating one another with dignity, confronting injustice where it exists, and ensuring that the promise of freedom reaches every member of our community.

Bharatiya Learning Center Grand Opening Ceremony, May 2, 2026.

It was an honor to join community leaders and residents today for the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Bharatiya Learning Center in Montgomery Township.

This beautiful new facility, representing an $8.5 million investment, features 12 classrooms and a cafeteria, and will serve as an important hub for education, culture, and community connection for years to come. The strong turnout from local, county, state, and federal leaders speaks to the significance of this investment in our Township.

This project would not have been possible without the generosity of donors and the dedication of so many volunteers. Their efforts were evident not only in the construction of this impressive facility, but in this thoughtfully planned celebration as well.

Following the ceremony, we were treated to a wonderful luncheon. I am grateful for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended by the Temple membership.

It was especially meaningful to see so many young members of the temple community present. There was a clear sense of optimism in the room, which made it a truly joyful experience.

Congratulations to Temple Founder and President, Nand Todi, and to all of the Temple’s leaders past and present, on this milestone achievement. On behalf of Montgomery Township, thank you for your continued commitment to enriching our community.

Just wrapped up a productive and worthwhile few days at the 2026 PSATS Conference in Hershey.

I was proud to represent Montgomery Township and Montgomery County, serving as a voting delegate for MCATO and helping to moderate two sessions, one on fire service expansion and another on understanding fees within the MPC.

A particularly meaningful moment for me was seeing the Data Center resolution I drafted on behalf of MCATO formally adopted by the assembly. Preserving local control over zoning and land use, especially as it relates to large-scale data centers, is critical given the potential impact these developments can have on our communities. I’m proud to have contributed to the conversation around this emerging issue in a meaningful way.

Equally valuable was the opportunity to connect with fellow Supervisors and municipal professionals from across Pennsylvania. Sharing what’s working, what’s not, and how others are approaching similar challenges is a big part of what brings me back to this conference each year.

Conferences like this require time away from both family and work, and I don’t take that lightly. But the insights gained, relationships built, and ideas brought back to Montgomery Township and the County make that investment worthwhile.

Grateful to the PSATS Board, staff, and membership for organizing another outstanding conference. I look forward to putting what I’ve learned into practice to continue making our community an even better place to live, work, and recreate.
