Yesterday, I toured Community College of Philadelphia’s Northeast Regional Center with Rep. Martina White.

We got to check out the campus, hear more about the programs they offer, and learn about some of the things CCP has in the works for students here in Northeast Philly.

Thanks to Lisa Sanders, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Success; Jenna Perlman, Executive Director of the Northeast Regional Center; and Dr. Alycia A. Marshall, President of Community College of Philadelphia, for showing us around and spending some time with us.

It was a great visit, and I’m looking forward to staying connected with everything happening at CCP!

This past weekend, I stopped by the 7th Police District’s Cookout with a Cop!

It was great seeing so many neighbors out and getting a chance to catch up with the officers of the 7th District. Thanks for having me, and an even bigger thank you to the officers for everything you do each day to keep our community safe. Always a good time!

I had a great time stopping by some of our small businesses in Fox Chase!

It’s always good to get out, talk with our local business owners, and make sure they know about the resources available to them. Whether it’s navigating a city or state issue or just figuring out who to call, my office is here to help.

Thanks to everyone who took a few minutes to chat with me!

The Ryan-Judge rivalry lived up to the hype this weekend!

I had the pleasure of meeting students, parents, and staff from both schools and catching up with everyone who came out. After an overtime battle, Father Judge took home the win.

I also had the honor of presenting Judge players with the MVP and Sportsmanship Awards after the game. Congratulations to both teams on a great showing and to Judge on the win!

Our transit operators go to work every day with thousands of people depending on them to get where they need to go. They deserve to be able to do their jobs safely.

After the tragic loss of SEPTA bus operator Bernard Gribbin, I introduced Bernard Gribbin’s Law to strengthen protections for transit workers across Pennsylvania. The bill passed the Senate with bipartisan support, and now I’m urging the House to take action and get it across the finish line.

I wrote about why this matters and why we can’t afford to wait. Give it a read below:

Today, I sat down with Joe Coccio (Secretary/Treasurer) Will Warfield (Vice President) and Sam Schwartz (General Counsel) from Transport Workers Union Local 234 to talk about issues facing our transit workers.

We had a productive conversation about Senate Bill 210, also known as Bernard Gribbin’s Law, which I introduced to strengthen protections for transit workers, as well as potential solutions to SEPTA’s funding challenges including taxing skill games to help fund public transit.

I appreciate TWU Local 234 taking the time to meet and share their perspective. Keeping our transit workers safe and transit moving is a priority for me.

While touring the Mayfair commercial corridor with Anya Chuyko and Reagan Chatman of the Department of Commerce, as well as Donny Smith, Executive Director of the Mayfair Business Improvement District, I noticed a dangerous condition in the street at 7346 Frankford Avenue (at its intersection with Tudor Street).

I immediately contacted the Streets Department, the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), and Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) for assistance. Imad Barrouh, Construction Engineer from PWD, promptly responded with the following update:

“We have received a couple of complaints directly from residents regarding site conditions on Tudor Street and near 7346 Frankford Ave. We are actively addressing any items related to PWD’s work and forwarding all PGW-related restoration concerns directly to PGW (James Morse).

To clarify the project status: PWD previously completed the main water line installation and initial tie-ins. However, PWD could not finish the remaining water service work because we had to clear the street to allow PGW to perform their gas main and service installations.

PGW has now completed their gas main and service installation work, but trench, curb, and sidewalk restoration remains pending on their end. According to PGW’s recent update, their paving contractor is scheduled to begin site restoration this week. Once PGW completes their restoration, PWD’s contractor will return to the street to finish our remaining water service connections and tie-ins.”

Thank you to our utility partners for their prompt response and action. I’ll continue to keep you updated as PGW’s restoration work progresses.

Had a great time celebrating a very special milestone on Saturday — Hank Wong’s 90th birthday!

Hank is a proud U.S. Army veteran, and I was honored to present him with a citation recognizing his 90th birthday and his service to our country.

It was wonderful getting to celebrate with him, his family, and friends. Happy birthday and thank you for your service! 🇺🇸🎊
