To little ones, firefighters can seem big, loud, and even a little scary. But one visit can change everything. ❤️

Firefighters from Station 17 stopped by a local daycare to show these kids that behind the gear is someone who is there to help. Building trust starts long before the emergency call.

Technical Rescue crews were dispatched around 11:00 AM to Desert Vista Trail near 19th Ave and North Valley PKwy for reports of a hiker experiencing a medical emergency.

Upon arrival, firefighters located an adult female approximately one mile up the trail unable to continue her decent.

Phoenix Police Department Firebird 10 assisted crews with a hoist operation to safely extract the patient from the mountain. Once off of the trail she was reevaluated and transported to a local hospital in stable condition. All crew members are safely off of the mountain.

Fire crews were dispatched around 3:30 PM to the area of 19th Ave and Buckeye Rd for reports of a residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from a home. Due to fire extending to multiple nearby structures, command upgraded the incident to a First Alarm.

Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to extinguish the blaze and protect the threatened exposures. One dog was rescued from the home and reunited with its owner.

One person has been displaced by the fire, and personnel from the Community Assistance Program responded to meet their immediate needs. There were no reported injuries. Fire investigators remain on the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.

After a busy morning of training, Station 17 kept lunch simple: build-your-own sandwiches.

Nothing fancy, just a crew gathering around the table before the next call comes in.

Because sometimes it’s not about the food. It’s about the people.

Fire crews were dispatched around 11:30 AM to the area of 32nd St and Sweetwater Ave for reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of a residential house. Firefighters deployed hose lines inside the residence to battle the blaze while simultaneously searching for occupants.

Ladder crews accessed the roof and performed vertical ventilation operations. Three people have been displaced. Personnel from the Community Assistance Program are on the scene helping meet the family’s immediate needs.

There were no reported injuries. Fire investigators remain on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Today, Phoenix Fire, Phoenix Police, Parks & Recreation, Valleywise Health, and our community partners demonstrated how quickly legal fireworks can ignite dry brush, cause serious injuries, and put neighborhoods at risk.

Know the restrictions, and consider attending one of Phoenix’s professional fireworks displays to celebrate safely.
