This week, we welcomed another neighbor in Headquarter Alley: Sprouts Farmers Market. I got to check it out last month while it was still under construction, so it was great to come back and see it now. Investments like this bring more jobs and opportunities to North Phoenix.

The City Council and I voted to throw our hat in the ring in a bid to host the Rugby World Cup in fall 2031. We’ve shown that we can host major sporting events and deliver an incredible experience for fans here in Championship Valley. Bringing the Rugby World Cup to Phoenix would give us another opportunity to welcome visitors from around the world and showcase the local businesses and attractions that make our city great. A restaurant in downtown Phoenix was named one of the best pizzerias in the country by USA TODAY for pizzas built on “parmesan, reggiano and basil."

The federal government’s decision does not provide the fair, basin-wide leadership the Colorado River crisis demands. We will continue protecting reliable water service while leading the next generation of infrastructure investments to support our residents and businesses that are essential to America’s economic and national security. Though we are prepared for this moment because of decades of planning and conservation, we will push for new federal support to mitigate the rising cost of water that will result from this federal decision. Phoenix will continue to lead with responsible growth, continued conservation, and investment in infrastructure improvements that serve our city and the region.
