Over the last three years, our investments have already generated meaningful change. Not only have we renovated indoor and outdoor common areas, but we've also expanded our capacity to serve larger families by converting 30% of shelter rooms into larger accommodations.

These improvements are already changing lives every day on our campus. And with our Capital Campaign nearing completion, even more transformational changes are on the horizon.

Phoenix’s extreme heat is not something any one organization can solve alone. It takes first responders, city and county partners, nonprofits, faith communities, volunteers, and neighbors all working together to keep families safe. ❤️

Meet Pinky, a dedicated member of UMOM’s Family Shelter team. 💛

Pinky joined UMOM because she loves helping people and bringing a smile to their day. Every day, she encourages and motivates families as they work toward stability, and hearing “Thank you, Miss Pinky” is what keeps her inspired.

UMOM’s mission is deeply personal to Pinky. Having experienced homelessness herself, she understands the challenges many families face and finds joy in watching participants transform from uncertainty and tears to confidence and hope.

Today, we honor the memory of those lost on September 11th through service to others.

UMOM’s Philanthropy team was proud to volunteer for 9/11 Day alongside our community partner, USAA, and thousands of people across the country in observance of the 9/11 Day of Service, helping pack meals for individuals and families facing hunger.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we are reminded that one of the most meaningful ways to pay tribute is by coming together to care for our neighbors.❤️

Thanks to the generosity of Player 15 Group's NOIR Network, UMOM families will have access to new and gently used clothing that provides comfort, dignity, and opportunity. These items help children feel prepared for school, support parents pursuing employment, and ease the financial burden on families working hard to rebuild their lives.

We're grateful to the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury NOIR Network (Player 15 Black Team Member Network) for turning compassion into action and helping families build a brighter future.

This Workforce Development Month, we're shining a spotlight on UMOM's Workforce Development program, which empowers adults experiencing homelessness with the tools, training, and support they need to secure employment, build careers, and achieve long-term stability. From resume assistance and interview preparation to job placement and ongoing coaching, our team helps parents create brighter futures for themselves and their children.

UMOM's Workforce Development team does so much more than help people find jobs. They build relationships, identify each individual's strengths, help navigate barriers to employment, and provide encouragement every step of the way. Whether it's preparing for a first interview, exploring career pathways, securing professional clothing, or celebrating a new job offer, they meet families where they are and help them move forward with confidence.

Their compassion, expertise, and unwavering belief in the potential of every person they serve help families move beyond crisis and toward lasting self-sufficiency. This month, we celebrate the incredible team members who are creating opportunities, restoring hope, and helping families build a brighter future. 💙
