I’m asking for your vote!

During my time as Commissioner, I worked hard to move our district forward. I led the effort to modernize our rescue tools, improved the way we invest for LOSAP, and upgraded our technology—changing internet providers and saving taxpayers thousands of dollars each year.

I also spearheaded the communication upgrade to narrow-banding and established a fiscally responsible communication reserve fund for the Trunked Radio System. And after years of planning, I helped get the long-awaited renovations for Station 2 off the ground.

I hope I can count on your support and your vote on December 9th.

Plan your vote for Tuesday!

What is a fire district?

In New York State, a Fire District is a special local government entity created specifically to provide fire protection and emergency services within a defined area.

Each district is run by a Board of Fire Commissioners:
• Usually 5 Pittsford has 7 commissioners
• Each serves a 5-year term
• Elected by district residents at an annual election
The board:
• Approves budgets
• Maintains buildings, trucks, and equipment
• Oversees the fire department that operates within the district

Fire districts have taxing authority.
Their budget is funded through:
• Property taxes levied only on residents within the district
• Occasional bonds or capital reserve funds (subject to voter approval)
They produce an annual budget each year, which the commissioners adopt.

Mark your calendars for December 9th!

Hello Neighbors this is Tim Hyland and I’m running for Fire Commissioner for the Pittsford Fire Department

I’ve proudly served this community for 50 years—starting as an Explorer in 1975, joining the Fire Department in 1978, and continuing through roles as Chief, Commissioner, President, Chairman of the Board, and a retired career firefighter.

I’ve led through major moments, including commanding the rescue of 131 people at Lock 32, and I’ve always focused on modernization and fiscal responsibility.

As a business owner, I understand responsible budgeting and long-term planning. I’m running because experience matters, and I’m committed to keeping our firefighters strong and our community safe.

I’d be honored to earn your support and your vote.
–Tim
