Charlotte County has had a Water Main Break on the mainland side of the island which has shut down all water to Little Gasparilla Island. We will update you when they have made repairs and then we will be under a Boil Water Notice.

Please keep an eye out for follow up emails, watch our FaceBook page or go to our website for more information and updates.

The burn ban has been lifted, per state statute you are allowed to burn yard waste, tree cutting debris and UNTREATED wood.
Everything else is on hold, statutes are being reviewed and the barrier islands all along the coast are being monitored closely.

Good afternoon to all,

As of the 5-28-2024 Charlotte County Commission meeting we are now under a burn ban to include all yard waste and recreational fires, It has also been stated that no private party fireworks are to be used during the time of said burn ban. There will be no exceptions for any reason to this ruling.

This is absolutely not acceptable DO NOT STAND OR RIDE a manatee!! Do not even touch them, they breath air as we do and the next time I will stand on your back for a while!!!!
This will not be tolerated in any way! Karma will come full circle.

Due to the anticipated increase in wind speeds ALL burning is on hold until such time as the wind subsides! Currently the wind is forecast to have gusts upward of 30 mph today (1-8) and 42 mph tomorrow (1-9).

Good evening all, word has been received from Charlotte County that they will be removing the boats from the marinas tomorrow at 12:00 pm or before depending on the winds. At that time there will be no way other than private boat to remove someone from LGI. NO resident will be asked to put their life or boat on the line during peak winds and rain. CCFR will begin operations post wind, rain and lightening at their discretion. If you have any doubt about your well being today or early morning will be the time to leave the island. I will be remaining on the island as it stands today, however when the winds reach unsafe speeds for me to “safely” travel the island I will suspended operations per the Florida Department of Health’s recommend guidelines.

Everyone be safe and smart with the decisions you make during peak storm times!

Good morning,
ATL has started clean up operations on island, their equipment is large and takes the whole road. They have been advised NOT to move from their working location for every person who is riding around. LET THEM DO THEIR JOB. When they finish loading the truck and move to the drop off point you are free to pass as normal. STAY OUT OF THEIR WAY IT IS NO EASY TO SEE 360* OPERATING THIS EQUIPMENT WE DO NOT WANT ANYONE HURT!!!!

Please be cautious and cordial
Thank you
