The City of Plattsburgh is located on Lake Champlain in the northeast part of New York State about 20 miles south of the Canadian Border. To the west of Plattsburgh sits 6.1 million acres of land called the Adirondack Park which contains the famous Adirondack Mountains. There are over one hundred summits, ranging from under 1,200 to over 5,000 feet in altitude. Plattsburgh has been the site of a n

umber of historical events. These events include the Revolutionary War's Battle of Valcour Island and the War of 1812's Battle of Plattsburgh. Plattsburgh is tied to a number of famous and infamous people. The actor Jean Arthur was born here in 1900, John Henry Hopkins who was a former rector of Plattsburgh's Trinity Episcopal Church is the author of the Christmas hymn "We Three Kings of Orient Are,” and architect John Russell Pope who designed the Jefferson Memorial also is the architect who designed Plattsburgh's City Hall. The City of Plattsburgh is home to approximately 19,000 people where Christopher C. Rosenquest () has been elected as the 29th Mayor of the city (2021-current).

ASSESSOR - CITY OF PLATTSBURGH

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is professional work in the valuation for assessment of real property for tax purposes and the preparation of an annual assessment roll. If the position exists in the County Real Property Department, the work also provides assessment administration services to a municipality as their sole assessor. Work is performed under the general direction of the municipal legislator or the appointing authority. Supervision is exercised over the work of appraisal, analytical, and clerical staff. Advisory service is available from the County Director of Real Property Tax Services and the State Board of Equalization and Assessment. The incumbent does related work as required.

Work location: 41 City Hall Place, Plattsburgh, NY

Full time: 40 hours per week

Annual Salary range: $64,654 - $74,534

Boil Water Order will be Issued!

As the result of an Emergency Water Main Repair scheduled for 12:01am on Wednesday, September 2nd, there will be an interruption of Water Service and a Boil Water Order Issued for 4 Beach Road and 327 - 474 Margaret Street (which includes all of Lenox Way, Wildwood Estates, Set Point, Willow Beach, Seth Square, Edgewater Estates and West Bay Plaza). This Boil Water Order will remain in effect until further notice.
