"My main focus is to build an Idaho where our kids and grandkids can start their careers and their families. That means strengthening our public schools from Pre-K up to career training, so that every student has the skills to get a good-paying job.

It means fixing our crumbling roads and bridges to help local businesses thrive.

At the end of the day, I want a state where our children have a bright future and are proud to call Idaho home."

Election Day is Nov 3rd 2026: VOTE James Ruchti for Idaho Senate

08/07/2026

I've spent a lot of years in the Statehouse listening to lobbyists make the case for out-of-state corporations and dark money groups. What actually moves the needle is neighbors showing up at your door and asking how you're really doing. 🚪🤝

That's what our canvass does, every Thursday and Saturday until Election Day. Senator James Ruchti and Mary Shea are knocking on doors right alongside you and me, because this district doesn't just need one seat; it needs a full team willing to fight for it.

You don't need any experience. Madison and the team will walk you through everything before you head out. Sign up to volunteer today: https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/961367/

FROM THE REELECTED STATE COMMITTEE WOMAN: Tamara Code
Years ago, when I ran for County Commissioner, the newspaper labeled me a political activist. At the time, I didn't view myself that way—just as a concerned citizen trying to improve Bannock County.

Since then, I have embraced that label. I am a political activist because I believe in democracy. I have fought for women's rights since high school, and it is disheartening that this fight still continues 50 years later.

Whenever people say they don’t want to talk about politics, I tell them: that is too bad because politics is certainly talking about you. It is vital to educate yourself on the candidates and choose who to support. THEN VOTE!

If the younger generation wants people who look like me to stop making the decisions that affect you, the solution is clear: run for office, support quality candidates, and vote. Your vote is your superpower—exercise it.

FROM THE REELECTED SECRETARY: Sheri Gates

I joined the Bannock County Democrats because I want to help elect Democratic candidates and become more involved in the political process. It's important to me to support leaders who share my values while also giving back to my community. It’s an opportunity to connect with others, volunteer, and make a meaningful contribution to strengthening our local community.

FROM THE NEW TREASURER: Raena Evans

I used to hate politics; I felt that politicians had become deceitful at best and downright corrupt at large. Then, about 10 years ago, I encountered one in particular who made me believe in the term "Public Servant" again. That lit a fire in me. I became passionate about national politics. Over the past couple of years I've developed renewed hope in our local and state political scene and I am excited for the opportunity to participate in helping good people get elected to office. As President Obama wrote, "Real change starts from the ground up," and I think the current state of our nation provides a great opportunity for us to offer our neighbors something better.

FROM THE NEW STATE COMMITTEEMAN: Keven Lewis

Like so many Americans, I've grown cynical with our politics. How could I not? Over my life I've watched as our elected leaders across the political spectrum have engaged in outright corruption, a disdain for the working class, and a failure to take seriously the issues of our time.

Despite all this, I believe that change is possible. Really possible.

As your state committeeman I am committed to the work of building a better future. A future that is not inhibited by the status-quo and whims of an out of touch political class, but a future that centers the needs and interests of working class Idahoans.

FROM THE NEW CHAIR

As your new Bannock County Chair, I look forward to building upon the incredible leadership that came before me. An effective party is a unified party; we are not powerless when we are organized.

The collaborative, and often thankless, work we do as volunteers is work worth doing. I am eager to engage with the public, our candidates, and our donors so that our momentum does not ease.

Bannock County Democrats are in an advantageous position to flip multiple seats in our favor this election cycle. This work could be the difference between hungry children receiving meals, stability for families, and workers obtaining the benefits they deserve for their labor. Again, our work is work worth doing.

Sincerely,
Zachariah Mulberry

👂City Seeks Public Input on City Creek Multi-Use Trails Master Plan

The City of Pocatello Outdoor Recreation Division is partnering with the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) to develop a multi-use Trails Master Plan for City Creek, a priority identified in the City’s 2025 Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan, also known as the PROST Plan. The project is partially funded through grant support.

The project focuses on creating a more sustainable and community-supported trail system within the nearly 3,000-acre recreation area. Many existing trails were created without formal planning, leading to erosion and environmental impacts in some areas.

IMBA has completed a field assessment and worked with City staff to develop a draft trail network proposal.

The public is encouraged to review the draft plan and complete an online survey by May 28, at 5 p.m. A community meeting will also be held June 1 at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 911 N 7th Avenue, to provide updates on the project and gather additional feedback from trail users and stakeholders.

Residents can review the concept plan, complete the survey, and learn more about the project at: citycreektrailsplan-pocatello.hub.arcgis.com/
