This is infuriating. Stopping kids from reading books about hard subjects doesn’t make the issues go away. It just makes the issues harder to acknowledge and talk about. https://www.facebook.com/share/1AKHbumtWc/?mibextid=wwXIfr

A parent's complaint led a Merrimack Valley High School committee to recommend the removal of the young adult novel "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" from the required reading lists of its English courses due to its controversial content.

I’m so grateful to everyone who came out on a crazy windy day to vote yesterday! And I’m excited to keep doing whatever I can in my own small way to support our teachers and kids.

Make a plan to VOTE & DONATE tomorrow! SNAPBack Seacoast has collection bins at every polling place. They most need: formula, baby food, fun kids’ cereal, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies. Donations will go to local food pantries.

The polls open in less than 24 hours, and I hope I’ve earned your vote! I also wholeheartedly support Steve Adler, a retired teacher and principal, who would be a fantastic colleague on the school board. You can read more about me, Steve, and all the other candidates here: https://progressportsmouth.com/candidate/lisa-rapaport?hsLang=en

During my time on the school board, these are some things I’m most proud of doing:

* Founded our legislative committee to advocate for Portsmouth values in Concord (like fair school funding, local control of our school policies and curriculum, and free expression in our classrooms and libraries)

* Advocated for more transparency and accountability in our budgeting and policy-making

* Pushed for improvements in our K-12 curriculum that support all types of learners

I’m always happy to talk if you have questions or concerns - message me!

I hope to earn your vote.
