The Colonel Paul Wentworth House- what an incredible property with a wonderful story of preservation and persistence. Yesterday a few of us from the Warner House took a field trip to Rollinsford to tour this great house. The Wentworths who lives here were cousins of Benning Wentworth, but while our Wentworths were Loyalists, Col. Paul & John were Patriots. A great contrast not only of politics but also city and frontier. If you haven't yet visited this property, we highly recommend you do! We wanted to share a little garden appreciation! Some may know that the Portsmouth Garden Club lovingly cares for the garden and has for over 25 years. Recently a PGC husband, Gary Abrams, made a beautiful birdhouse that now sits center stage in the fence along the side garden. Thank you!

The garden is open dawn to dusk, year-round to enjoy. It's the perfect respite in the middle of downtown Portsmouth. Dogs are welcome, too. We just ask they stay leashed and you remove any dog waste.

We also want to thank DS Cole in Loudon, NH, for the generous (and annual) donation of dozens and dozens of flowers. We're so grateful!

We had a great visit with the Historic Deerfield Fellows today! They got a special tour of the house from Richard Candee, THE expert on New England architecture - what could be better? It's always fun sharing the house with students who are already so passionate and knowledgeable about what they're doing. It gives us a little boost every time 😊

Our next joint walking tour with The Wentworth-Gardner House is coming up on August 5. Tour two exceptional houses, both of which were occupied by Loyalists leading up to the American Revolution. The tour is 2 hours and includes guided tours if both sites and a 1/2 mile guided walk between the two. $25/person. More details at WarnerHouse.org/events. Don't miss it!
