Today, we celebrate the retirement of Lt. Chris Kiberd, a truly exceptional member of our Portsmouth PD family, whose dedication to both the profession and the community has left a lasting impact.

Throughout his 30+ year career, Lt. Kiberd embodied the spirit of community policing, building genuine relationships with the people he served. He always took the time to stop, listen, and connect with residents, businesses, and visitors alike. His approachable nature, kindness, and commitment to helping others earned him the respect and admiration of countless members of our community.

Beyond his service, he has been a valued colleague and a pleasure to work alongside. His professionalism, positive attitude, and unwavering support for his fellow officers will be greatly missed.

As he begins this well-deserved new chapter, we thank him for his 23 years of dedicated service to the City of Portsmouth and the countless lives he has touched along the way. We wish him happiness, good health, and many exciting adventures in retirement.

Roll call this morning had a noticeably different ratio than usual. Before anyone asks: no, the guys weren’t all on vacation.

Officers Megan McBride, Gabby Shontz, Chloe Robidas and Myranda Wright are patrolling Portsmouth .Det. Rochelle Jones, Ofc. Sarah Kotz, SRO Lynn Thomas and SRO Cassidy Demo, who were apparently too busy working to make the group photo, are also on shift today.

PPD has proudly participated in the 30x30 Initiative since 2023, supporting women in law enforcement and helping build the next generation of police officers.

Be safe, be well.

PPD once again partnered with the Portsmouth Recreation - NH and Seacoast Area Bicycle Riders - SABR for the annual bike rodeo! Ofc. Young spoke about bike safety, rode the bike course with the kids, and escorted the group rides through the neighborhood. Det. Jones and Ofc. Cunningham handed out helmets, educational materials, and PPD swag. And of course, Mason the Comfort Dog played with the kids and got a lot of love from everyone! Thank you to the Brain Injury Assoc of NH who donated the free bike helmets and education material for the kids. It was an excellent turn out and a fun time had by all! 🚔🚲🐾
