The roadway is currently SHUT DOWN at the intersection of Marietta Street and Powder Springs Road.

⚠️ Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route until further notice.

Please use caution in the surrounding area and allow extra time for travel.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Joe Bennett, who was officially sworn in as Chief of Police AND Assistant City Manager for the City of Powder Springs - News and Events👏🏽🚔🏛️

Chief Bennett brings an incredible combination of leadership, education, experience, and public service to these roles.

🎓 Chief Bennett is a graduate of Reinhardt College, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management and Leadership, and Columbus State University, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Public Administration from Valdosta State University.

His leadership development includes:
🔹 Mercer University Public Safety Leadership Institute
🔹 Georgia Law Enforcement Command College – Class 50
🔹 FBI National Academy – 248th Session
🔹 Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government

Before joining Powder Springs, Chief Bennett served as Chief of Police for the City of Smyrna and later as Smyrna’s City Administrator, bringing valuable experience from both sides of public safety and municipal leadership.

🚨 BINGO, BUT MAKE IT PUBLIC SAFETY! 🚨😂

This past Saturday, the Powder Springs Police Department had the pleasure of joining Cobb County Admin Community Service for their BINGO event at Silver Comet Village! 🎱🎉

And listen we thought we were just coming to fellowship with the community, but once those BINGO cards came out, things got SERIOUS! 😂👀

We had an amazing time sharing laughs, making memories, and spending quality time with some incredible members of our community. 💙 These are the moments that remind us that community policing is about more than the badge it’s about showing up, building relationships, and having a little fun along the way!

A huge THANK YOU to Cobb County Admin Community Service and Silver Comet Village for allowing us to be part of such a great event!

Now the only question is, WHO YELLED BINGO FIRST?! 👀😂

🚨 CHAT 112 MPH?! IN A 45?! 😳🚔💨

Yeah, you read that right.

Powder Springs officers recently stopped a vehicle traveling 112 MPH in a posted 45 MPH zone. That’s 67 MPH OVER THE SPEED LIMIT! 🤯

At that speed, you’re not just risking a ticket, you’re risking your life and the lives of everyone sharing the road with you.

We love meeting members of our community but we’d much rather meet you at a community event than on the side of the road after clocking TRIPLE DIGITS. 😭🚔

Slow it down. Buckle up. Get there safely.

Because 112 in a 45 is WILD WORK and it ends in a pair of our shiny bracelets!😮‍💨

Our detectives are currently investigating a package theft that occurred in the Integrity Way / Equity Lane area, and we’re asking our community to help us put the pieces together. 👀🔎

If you live in the area, please take a moment to check your doorbell cameras, security cameras, or any other video footage that may have captured suspicious activity, vehicles, or individuals around the time of the incident.

📲 Have information? Please contact the Powder Springs Police Department and speak with an officer or investigator regarding the package theft investigation.

🚔😂 Chat!! You already know we had to pull up on Twin!

The Chat made its way down to City of South Fulton Police Department National Night Out, and once we linked up with our good friends, it was nothing but good vibes, big laughs, and community love!

We met some amazing people, took plenty of pictures, did a little swag surf, and even got to see Yung Joc! So yeah, it was definitely going down! 🔥😂

To everybody who always shows us love in the comments, we hate that we didn’t get a chance to meet all of you but don’t worry, The Chat will be back!

🚔💙 Austell Police Department, y’all definitely showed out!

We had an absolute blast being part of Austell’s National Night Out! It was an honor spending the evening with our amazing public safety partners and community friends, including Howard's Wrecker Service, Georgia Department of Public Safety, Austell Fire DepartmentCobb County Sheriff's Office, Puckett EMS TN / NORTH GA, and of course we couldn’t forget Nashville Hot Chicken - Powder Springs🌮🚓🚒🔥

From the laughs and conversations to the high-fives, smiles, and unforgettable memories, this is exactly what community is all about. Events like these remind us that when we come together, we build stronger relationships and safer neighborhoods.

To everyone who came out to say hello, take pictures, ask questions, and just enjoy the evening with us, THANK YOU! You made this event one to remember.
