They may claim you have a warrant, missed jury duty, or owe money, then pressure you to pay immediately using gift cards, Cash App, Venmo, Bitcoin, or wire transfers.

⚠️ The Waller County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER:
• Demand payment over the phone
• Ask for gift cards or cryptocurrency
• Threaten immediate arrest for unpaid fines over the phone

If you receive a suspicious call:
✅ Hang up immediately
✅ Do not send money or share personal information over the phone

On May 19, 2026, the Prairie View Police Department Investigations Division opened an investigation into allegations of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Impeding Breath and Circulation involving a female resident of Prairie View. Authorities confirmed that both the suspect and the victim were in a relationship.

Based on information gathered that same day, investigators established probable cause, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Javier Gonzales Jr., who is currently on parole.

Detective Sergeant Nicholas Mendiola, Sergeant Hugo Valencia, Officer Glendon Arnold, and Special Agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Violent Crimes Unit (2A4) conducted the investigation.

At around 7:45 PM, officers located Gonzales Jr. near 19th Street and Rice Road in Hempstead, Texas. He was apprehended without incident and transported to the Waller County Jail, where he was released into the custody of jail staff.

The Prairie View Police Department remains dedicated to protecting victims of violent crime and ensuring the safety of the community through ongoing investigative work and collaboration with partner agencies.

On August 28, 2025, Officer Carita Seymore, a patrol officer with the Prairie View Police Department, was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic during the shutdown of a large gathering. Officer Seymore, who had served with the department for approximately two years, sustained multiple serious injuries as a result of the incident.

The suspect vehicle, described as a silver 2020 Nissan Rogue, fled the scene immediately following the collision. Fellow officers, along with civilians in the area, rendered immediate aid to Officer Seymore until emergency medical personnel arrived. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Through witness statements and continued investigative efforts, officers with the Prairie View Police Department identified the suspect as Destiny E. Spann. Detective Sergeant Mendiola led the investigation, ultimately confirming Spann’s involvement in the incident.

On Monday, May 4, 2026, Destiny E. Spann was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death. She was transported and booked into the Waller County Jail without incident

Despite the severity of her injuries, Officer Seymore continues to show remarkable strength and resilience as she walks the path to recovery, uplifted by the prayers and support of her department, loved ones, and the community.

Your dedication to equipping officers with the knowledge and skills needed to keep our roads safe does not go unnoticed, we truly appreciate the time, effort, and commitment you poured into this training.
