Consolidation of fire truck manufacturing companies have created long wait times and higher prices. A lawsuit involving the Revere Fire Department aims to hold the private equity firms behind the increased consolidation accountable.

Not confirmed yet, but I’m pretty sure this was approved so the Chiefs Association could play “Touch a Truck” at Mohegan Sun instead of playing cards!

After all these years of trying to figure out how to get our firefighters the equipment they need and barely getting by with what we have, this is what takes place?

Our firefighters continue to work with aging, run-down apparatus while brand-new engines that our City purchased are being showcased at a truck show.

I’m honestly disgusted by it all.

This is completely unacceptable.

— President O’Hara

The Revere Fire Department says they bought a new fire engine, have been waiting years without receiving it, and it's currently on display at Mohegan Sun.

Unacceptable

Unacceptable

Our City ordered and purchased two new fire engines more than four years ago, and they are finally here. Unfortunately, instead of being delivered to the firefighters of Local 926 and put into service protecting our community, they were driven to Connecticut and showcased at a truck show at Mohegan Sun.

Meanwhile, our firefighters continue to operate and respond in run-down, aging apparatus.

Enough is enough with these truck companies. Our firefighters and the residents we protect deserve better. These engines were purchased to serve the City of Revere—not to sit at a truck show while our members continue putting their lives on the line in outdated equipment.

We have decided to speak out regarding the Facebook account known as “Revere Scanner (RS).” This account has consistently spread misinformation, often publishing stories that lack factual accuracy and, at times, appear to be completely fabricated—particularly when it comes to the members of Revere Firefighters Local 926.

If the goal is to share accurate information, the appropriate step would be to contact leadership directly, such as the Fire Chief or the Union President. Instead, assumptions are made and narratives are created without any effort to verify the facts.

When we have attempted to correct these inaccuracies, we have been blocked from their platform rather than engaged in a productive or honest dialogue.

The members of Revere Firefighters Local 926 remain open and willing to meet and discuss any concerns or questions. All that is required is a willingness to seek out the correct information from the proper sources.

Quote from President Captain Kevin O’Hara:

“Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are coming. Due to current legislation and regulatory frameworks, they cannot simply be stopped. The focus now must shift to preparedness. These facilities bring inherent risks, and it is critical that the companies developing them take responsibility for ensuring public safety. That means providing emergency responders with the necessary resources—adequate staffing, specialized equipment, comprehensive training, and ongoing support. It’s about time firefighters start receiving what they need on the front end, instead of constantly playing catch-up after the fact. We appreciate that Flatiron is working with us to help ensure these needs are met and that safety remains the priority. If these systems are going to be part of our communities, then preparedness cannot be optional, it must be built into the process from the start.”
