UPDATE on the Ice Cream Truck! They will be moving to the ballfields for the 5:30 PM softball game! Stop by the fields to support "What's The Scoop" ice cream truck! We will have them back again! Thanks for everyone's support today at the library!

Don't forget "What's The Scoop" Ice Cream Truck is parked here at the library today! They are ready to serve up lots of ice cream until 7:30 PM.........there are ball games here in town so spread the word to everyone.

We had a "dinosaurific" day today with Jeff Quinn, Magician. We had 25 children attend the program, and we served all of them ice cream at the "What's the Scoop" ice cream truck that parked outside. They loved the magician and, of course, the ice cream and some checked out books, plus we had many new faces. We gave out door prizes, too.
Thanks to everyone for supporting our local library!

Our 2nd program for our Summer Reading Program was held today, June 16th, and Janessa Rawhouser, Nebraska Extension in Butler County, was our guest presenter, along with her assistant, Olivia.
Janessa read to 16 children the "Fossils Tell Stories" and "Here We Go Digging for Dinosaur Bones" books.
Janessa and Olivia led some craft activities such as making fossil beds with various sized pasta shells, and digging for fossils using M & M cookies. The children had fun eating the cookies afterwards, too.
The library had water balloons and bubbles and two books as door prizes. All children received one door prize. On Thursday of this week we'll have more door prizes.

Next up this week is Thursday, June 18th starting at 1:30 PM with Jeff Quinn, Magician, and after the children finish with the program, we'll have door prizes and everyone attending can have a free ice cream cone/dish compliments of Jeff and Diane Duren. "What's the Scoop" ice cream truck will be serving ice cream at the library from 2:30 - 7:30 PM. Stop by and support their efforts to come to our community!

We have been busy with our Summer Reading Program here at the library. Opal's Children's Corner has had new faces, and excited kids for our reading challenge this summer, and of course the treats at the end of each program is always a highlight.
Last Thursday, June 11th, we had thirteen kids attend and we had Jenna from Science Heroes visit our library with an excellent program. Our kids were very engaged, and all of them were able to help with a science experiment at least once, and sometimes two times. We have a book reading challenge that they have to check out five books between now and August 1st, and find flags around the county and log it on a sheet, and present both back to the library by August 1st to receive a $5 gift card to the RC Pit Stop.

Join us from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM for Science Heroes! Digging It! This fits right into our summer reading program theme of "Unearth a Story". All ages welcome, and we'll have treats for the kids, along with a summer challenge for prizes at the end.
