Ohio County Public Library in Rising Sun, Indiana OCPL serves the residents of Ohio County through life-long learning, information and literacy access.

We provide library services that include materials for circulation within the Library building, services for materials outside of the Library and life-long learning opportunities. We can es**rt your access to innumerable sources of information either within our collection or through inter-library loan, or via internet resources.

What can the voices of the past teach us about our lives today?

As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, join Professor Emeritus Ron Nicholson for a thought-provoking 60-minute journey through the words of some of America's most enduring thinkers and writers, including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Robert Frost, Patrick Henry, Maya Angelou, Walt Whitman, and others.

More than a celebration of history, Voices of Liberty is an opportunity to explore timeless ideas about freedom, courage, community, perseverance, and the human spirit. Across two and a half centuries, these voices have challenged, inspired, and encouraged generations to think deeply about their role in shaping the future.

Whether you are a history enthusiast, a lover of literature, or simply curious about the ideas that continue to influence our nation and our lives, this presentation offers something for everyone.

📚 Ohio County Public Library Summer Reading Program (K–8)
We’re excited to celebrate young readers in our community!
Who can join?
Children entering Kindergarten through 8th grade
How to get started:
• Register beginning May 21 at the library
• Pick up your reading log
Reading Goals (based on grade):
• K–3rd grade: Read 10 picture books (1 entry for prize)
• 4th–8th grade: Read 3 chapter books (1 entry for prize)
These are flexible—adjust based on your child’s reading level and interest.
• After you finish the program, you will get one entry for every 5 picture books you read or one entry for each chapter book you read.
How to finish:
• Bring your completed reading log to the front desk
• Earn a prize and be entered into drawings for more prizes
• The more you read, the more chances you have to win!
Deadline:
📅 Turn in logs by Monday, July 15

🎉 Weekly activities (Theme: “Unearth a Story”)

Join us for fun, creative activities! Space limited. You must be signed up to attend.
🗓 Thursdays at 1 PM
• May 28
• June 4, 11, 18, 25
• July 2, 9,
• Completion Pizza Party July 16 at 1 pm
Kids will build communication skills, teamwork, creativity, and friendships—all while having fun!
Kids will get an extra entry for the prizes for each activity they attend
