May is Older Americans Month and we were pleased to take part in a special community engagement opportunity on May 13 at Iglesia La Luz del Mundo.

Leaders from the church invited us to speak with older adult leaders and members of their congregation as part of their Older Americans Month celebration. We presented the Alzheimer’s Association’s Building Brain-Healthy Habits program in Spanish, sharing practical ways to support brain health and healthy aging through everyday lifestyle habits.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with Latino faith leaders and community members around brain health awareness, and they also expressed excitement about engaging with this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Special thanks to pastors Ruben & Nilsa Serrano for inviting us.

When Congress enabled Medicare coverage for routine mammograms, screening rates soared ⬆️ and breast cancer deaths plummeted ⬇️. That early investment led to earlier detection, better outcomes and improved quality of life. This is a “mammogram moment” for Alzheimer’s. Tell Congress to make early detection the standard in care by supporting the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act: bit.ly/4kKpmie.
