The California Highway Patrol continues to make progress in the fight against organized retail crime.

From August 1st–9th, CHP’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force joined more than 100 law enforcement agencies nationwide for the National Organized Retail Crime Blitz, conducting coordinated enforcement operations at businesses, shopping centers, and retail stores across California.

The results:
• 97 suspects arrested, including 8 on felony charges
• More than 8,500 stolen items recovered
• Approximately $1.05 million in stolen merchandise recovered

These efforts build on last year’s success and reflect CHP’s continued commitment to holding organized retail theft suspects accountable and protecting California businesses and communities.

More than double the speed limit!

This morning, an officer was patrolling Tomales Petaluma Road near Chileno Valley Road. An oncoming vehicle approached at a high rate of speed which the officer locked in at 116 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Speeding significantly reduces reaction time and dramatically increases the severity of crashes, especially on rural roads.

The driver was running late, but no appointment, meeting, or shift is worth risking your life or the lives of others. Slow down and arrive safely.

Over the weekend, Officer Major came to the rescue after responding to a dog wandering in traffic on Petaluma Hill Road. With the help of a good Samaritan, the dog was safely contained and taken to VCA Animal Care, where a microchip scan quickly identified the owner.

A short trip later, this dog was safely back home where they belong. 🐾

It’s always a great day when we can help bring a family back together!

Last week, Officer Bohren stopped by the Camp Cotati Lemonade Stand outside the Ray Miller Community Center to support a great cause.

The campers were raising donations for the Recreation Department’s scholarship fund, which helps local children attend camps and other recreation programs. We were happy to grab a cup of lemonade, say hello, and hand out CHP stickers to the kids.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support our community! 🍋💙
