We recently had the opportunity to sit down with W. Clayton Burch, Superintendent of the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, to learn more about the campus located right here in the heart of Romney.
We know there has been a lot of conversation surrounding the work happening at WVSDB, so we wanted to help clear the air by sharing facts directly from the school’s leadership.
Clayton brings more than 30 years of experience in education, including serving as West Virginia’s 32nd State Superintendent of Schools. Throughout his career, he has remained focused on removing barriers to learning, strengthening student support, expanding access to resources, and creating opportunities for every student to succeed.
During our conversation, Clayton shares more about the mission of WVSDB, the students and families it serves across West Virginia, the improvements taking place throughout the historic campus, and the school’s continued focus on personalized education, career readiness, community partnerships, and preparing students for meaningful futures.
