NOW HIRING – LEAD CARPENTER / EXPERIENCED CONSTRUCTION WORKER

I am currently looking to hire a lead carpenter or experienced construction worker who can take charge on job sites, help manage day-to-day work, and support the training and oversight of less experienced crew members.

We handle everything from additions and remodels to full new home construction, so there is a wide range of work and opportunity for someone who wants to step into a leadership role and grow with the company.

Must be dependable, hardworking, have a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation. Strong experience is preferred, especially someone comfortable leading a crew or running a job site, but I am also willing to teach and develop the right person who has the right attitude and work ethic.

I am also planning to give a young high school senior a chance to try out and see how he does, so I am really looking for a solid lead guy who can help guide and set the standard on site.

If you don’t know everything, that’s okay—I can teach a lot to the right person who is willing to learn and work hard.

Message me if interested or if you know someone who would be a good fit.

🎥 Inside the Career Academy for Postgraduates at West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind

We recently sat down with Rachel Lanham, Transition Coordinator for the Career Academy for Postgraduates (CAT) at the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, to learn more about how this program helps young adults prepare for life after high school.

Based right here on the WVSDB campus in Romney, the CAT program serves eligible West Virginia students with hearing or vision loss who have graduated with a standard diploma. Students can focus on employment training, continuing education, or a combination of both — while also developing essential independent living skills.

A major part of the program is connecting students with real-world work experience through local businesses. CAT has partnered with Hampshire County businesses including Romney Brew Station, Giggs Barbecue, and Hampshire Metal Industries to help students build valuable workplace skills.

Rachel also explains how the program works alongside the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services to support both students and employers, including training opportunities that may reimburse hourly wages. The CAT team continues to provide support in the workplace to help meet communication, accessibility, and job-specific needs.

It’s a great example of education, workforce development, and our local business community working together to create meaningful opportunities.

🎬 Tune in to our full conversation with Rachel to learn more about the program and how students and local employers can get involved.

🍔🥓 We made our way out to Rt.50 Biscuits & Burgers !

We caught up with owner Steve and the gang to see what’s new, hear a little more about what they’re all about, and—of course—talk FOOD.

If you haven’t stopped in yet, you’re missing out on some serious comfort food. We’re talking giant scratch-made biscuits, hearty breakfast platters, hand-pattied burgers, fresh-cut fries, and rotating daily dinner specials like BBQ ribs, brisket, beef stew, and more.

Beyond what’s coming out of the kitchen, Steve also shared some of his plans to continue growing the space and creating even more for the community over time. We love seeing local businesses invest, grow, and build something right here in Hampshire County.

If Biscuits & Burgers hasn’t made it onto your list yet, consider this your sign to stop by this local gem!
