As pool season is fast approaching, we wanted to remind you of the following:

All pools more than 24 inches deep require fencing as well as an inspection.

303.2 Enclosures.
Private swimming pools, hot tubs and spas, containing water more than 24 inches (610 mm) in depth shall be completely surrounded by a fence or barrier not less than 48 inches (1219 mm) in height above the finished ground level measured on the side of the barrier away from the pool. Gates and doors in such barriers shall be
self-closing and self-latching. Where the self-latching device is less than 54 inches (1372 mm) above the bottom of the gate, the release mechanism shall be located on the pool side of the gate. Self-closing and self-latching gates shall be maintained such that the gate will positively close and latch when released from an open position of 6 inches (152 mm) from the gatepost. An existing pool enclosure shall not be removed, replaced or changed in a manner that reduces its effectiveness as a safety barrier.

Reminder to Town of Romney Residents & Businesses:

In accordance with town ordinances, garbage, trash, and debris-whether bagged, contained, or loose—should not be stored in vehicles, trailers, or similar areas unless they are fully covered and not visible from the street.

‼️Alert‼️ Smoke testing of the sanitary and storm sewer will be done between Wednesday, April 1 through Friday, April 3 on streets north of Rt 50 and west of Rt 28 (High Street). In addition North Grafton Street and Valley Street. Please be aware that the smoke is not toxic. No need to call the Fire Department or 911!

The Town of Romney Maintenance Crew will pickup yard waste-brush, etc. on Monday, April 6th and Tuesday, April 7th. All brush must be curbside and in containers except for large branches, etc.

Due to the severe weather, our office will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 26th. We plan to reopen on January 27th at 8:00 AM.

Town Hall will be closing at noon on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 and will remain closed through Friday, January 2, 2026 in observance of the New Year holiday.

Today we celebrated the retirement of Johnny “Shotgun” Jenkins, Laborer at the Waste Water Plant. Shotgun’s last day is tomorrow, November 21, 2025 and he will be retiring with 36 years of service. Best wishes on your retirement, Shotgun. You will be missed!
