In 1913, the Idaho Legislature created Minidoka County from a portion of Lincoln County, with Rupert designated as the county seat.

The county’s development was closely connected to the Minidoka Reclamation Project, which brought irrigation to the Snake River Plain and helped transform the surrounding sagebrush country into productive farmland. As settlers arrived, communities grew and agriculture became a cornerstone of the local economy.

More than a century later, agriculture, irrigation, and a strong sense of community remain an important part of Minidoka County’s identity.

Rupert is proud to have been part of the Minidoka County story from the very beginning!

Calling All Future Cheerleaders!

Get ready to CHEER, SHINE & HAVE FUN! 🌟 Tri-Cities Sports Cheer registration is open for kids ages 5–11!

Registration: August 13–27
Cost: $50 per cheerleader
⚠After August 27: $62
Registration closes August 28!

Registration includes a cheer bag, hair bows, poms, T-shirt, and half-time routines! Cheerleaders will have the opportunity to cheer at flag football and boys basketball games, pending participation numbers and schedules.

As we prepare to wrap up another summer in Rupert, we want to thank our residents, businesses, employees, volunteers, and visitors for making our community such a wonderful place to live.

August marks the transition into a new season. Students are back in school, harvest season is underway, and cooler days are just around the corner. It's a time to reflect on the memories made this summer and look forward to the opportunities that fall will bring.
