Down Syndrome Information Alliance

Down Syndrome Information Alliance DSIA provides support and resources to empower individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and our community.

We envision a community where people with Ds are empowered, respected as individuals, and accepted as valued participants in their community. DSIA was founded in 2004 by three families seeking greater access to support, information, and services in our community. Since then, weโ€™ve grown as a dedicated non-profit organization serving Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Yuba, and Sutter cou

nties. We envision a community where people with Down syndrome are empowered, respected as individuals, and accepted as valued participants in neighborhood schools, community activities, and the business world.

We're still smiling after an amazing evening at **Sunsplash NightSlides!** ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŽ‰

One of our favorite moments was welcoming a **brand-new DSIA family** to the community. We were also so grateful to see families travel **more than an hour** just to spend the evening together. That kind of connection reminds us how meaningful it is to create opportunities where everyone belongs.

From racing down the slides and splashing in the wave pool to sharing dinner, laughter, and conversation, it was a night filled with joy and new friendships.

Thank you to every family, volunteer, and supporter who made the evening so special. You are the heart of this community. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š Happy International Day of Friendship! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’œ

Friendship is about more than sharing laughsโ€”it's about belonging, encouragement, acceptance, and showing up for one another.

At the Down Syndrome Information Alliance, we've seen firsthand how meaningful friendships enrich lives. Whether it's meeting a new friend at a playgroup, cheering each other on at an event, reconnecting at our adult gatherings, or finding support through another parent who understands your journey, these connections strengthen our entire community.

Today, we celebrate the friendships that make our community so special and the people who make everyone feel seen, valued, and included.

๐Ÿ’œ Tag a friend who has made a difference in your life.
๐Ÿ’š Share a favorite memory of friendship in the comments.
๐Ÿ’œ Let's celebrate the power of connection and continue building a community where everyone belongs.

โœจ **Tip: Build a transition team! Include your student, family members, teachers, service providers, and anyone who can help support their goals. The best transition plans focus on the individual's strengths, interests, and vision for the future.

**๐Ÿ’œ Mission Monday ๐Ÿ’š**
From Step Up Walk to the 3*2*1 Co****le Classic: A New Tradition, the Same Mission.

For years, our Step Up Walk brought our community together to celebrate, connect, and raise critical funds that support individuals with Down syndrome and their families. As the Down Syndrome Information Alliance continues to grow, so do the ways we bring our community together.

We're excited to introduce the 3*2*1 Co****le Classic as our new signature fundraising event! While the format may be changing, our mission remains the same: to empower, connect, and celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and the people who love them.

The 3*2*1 Co****le Classic is more than a tournamentโ€”it's a day filled with friendly competition, laughter, connection, and purpose. Every team that registers, every sponsor that partners with us, every volunteer who gives their time, every donation, and every spectator helps provide programs, resources, and support for families throughout our community.

This is the beginning of an exciting new tradition, and we hope you'll be part of it.

Let's celebrate the power of community, the significance of 3*21*, and the difference we can makeโ€”one game, one team, and one family at a time.๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š

โœจ Motivation Monday โœจ
Today we're celebrating more than just a bike rideโ€”we're celebrating confidence, inclusion, and the joy of being part of the adventure.
For the very first time, our I Can Shine rider joined his cousins on a bike ride. What may seem like a simple moment to some is a huge milestone filled with courage, determination, and independence.
This is what I Can Shine is all about: opening doors, building confidence, and creating opportunities for riders to experience the freedom of two wheels with the people they love.
Every milestone starts with a first ride. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿšด

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’šThoughtful Thursday๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š

July is Disability Pride Month - a time to celebrate the strength, diversity, and contributions of people with disabilities while recognizing that every person deserves to be valued, included, and respected.

Disability Pride isn't about ignoring challenges. It's about embracing identity, honoring each person's unique gifts, and working together to build communities where everyone has the opportunity to learn, work, belong, and thrive.

At DSIA, we're proud to stand alongside individuals with Down syndrome and their families - not just this month, but every day. We believe that inclusion happens through everyday actions: welcoming others, listening to lived experiences, advocating for equal opportunities, and celebrating every achievement along the way.

This Disability Pride Month, we invite you to:
๐Ÿ’œ Celebrate the accomplishments of people with disabilities.
๐Ÿ’š Challenge assumptions and stereotypes.
๐Ÿ’œ Create spaces where everyone feels they belong.
๐Ÿ’š Be an advocate for inclusion in your school, workplace, and community.

Together, we can build a world where every individual is seen for their abilities, their potential, and the unique perspective they bring.
