PT pickup day for CTC II-26! 🏃‍♂️💦

Yesterday marked “PT Pickup Day” when CTC II-26 was formerly introduced to our Physical Training Unit. Cadets were provided the gymnasium’s rules and regulations and followed along as Physical Training Unit staff demonstrated floor workout exercises. Over the next six months, these cadets and instructors will share early morning sunrises, grueling workouts, and the kind of shared sweat that builds a California Highway Patrol officer. ​Today, as we celebrate two and a half centuries of independence, we pause to reflect on the true cost of our liberty. The CHP Academy honors the profound sacrifice of the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price to protect the freedoms we all enjoy today. Their legacy is woven into the very fabric of our nation.

​As you gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our country, please do so responsibly. Look out for one another on the roads, designate a sober driver, and help ensure everyone makes it home safely.

Today, we honor Sergeant Washabaugh's dedicated service to our Academy’s Recruit Training Office (for our retirees, formerly known as the Staff Office).

Sergeant Washabaugh was instrumental in training and mentoring over 1,350 cadets during his time at the CHP Academy! Sergeant Washabaugh was presented with a Commander's Commendation today, thanking him for not only his tremendous work ethic and attention to detail in keeping with the highest standards and traditions of the California Highway Patrol, but his exceptional character and leadership ability as well. We are thrilled for Sergeant Washabaugh as he starts a new chapter in the CHP’s Office of Criminal Investigations. Thank you Sergeant Washabaugh!
