🔬 Future scientists are making a difference today!
This , we’re celebrating Ashley Rodriguez & Molly Ciafone, two interns spending their summer learning alongside the scientists in DTSC’s Environmental Chemistry Laboratory.
➡️ Ashley joined through the Association of Public Health Laboratories Internship Program, which provides college students with hands-on laboratory experience, professional training, and opportunities to explore careers in public health laboratory science. In just 2 months, Ashley has mastered sample management and is now shadowing scientists in the metals laboratory, learning about quality control, laboratory instrumentation, and standardized analytical methods. 👏👏👏
➡️ Molly, a recent high school graduate, sought out DTSC after learning about our work protecting communities from toxic substances. Inspired by DTSC’s outreach efforts, she joined our Environmental Chemistry Laboratory before beginning her studies at UC Irvine this fall. Her curiosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to environmental and public health represent the future of California’s scientific workforce. 🧠💫🙌
At DTSC, internships provide more than laboratory experience—they help inspire and prepare the next generation of scientists dedicated to protecting California’s people and environment.
