DPR released the fourth and final component of a multi-part study exploring alternatives to fumigant pesticides. This report found that, while alternatives exist, there is no single alternative that can be used as a 1:1 substitute for methyl bromide or MITC generators.

The inaugural Scientific Prioritization and Review Committee (SPARC) meeting will happen in-person and online at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7. DPR created the advisory committee to provide scientific advice and additional public transparency to the department’s efforts to protect people and the environment.

Reminder: The first of three public hearings on proposed updates to California’s Enforcement Response Regulations is tomorrow, July 8 at 6:00 PM.
A pre‑hearing presentation will begin at 5:30 PM.
The proposal – the first major update to these regulations since 2006 – would strengthen protections for communities, increase penalties for the most serious pesticide use violations, and support consistent enforcement statewide.
Additional public hearings will be held on July 21 and 28.
Public comment is open through July 28, 2026.

DPR announced today it will issue a nearly $200,000 fine and take licensing action against an Idaho-based company that repeatedly broke California pesticide-sales laws. The settlement comes after a two-year investigation into Keystone Pest Solutions.

El Departamento de Reglamentación de Pesticidas de California (DPR, por sus siglas en inglés) anunció hoy que impondrá una multa de casi $200,000 y tomará medidas de licenciamiento contra una empresa con sede en Idaho que infringió repetidamente las leyes de California sobre la venta de pesticidas. El acuerdo se produce tras una investigación de dos años sobre Keystone Pest Solutions.

New report: How DPR is making its pesticide reevaluation process more efficient.

Reevaluation is a key part of our Continuous Evaluation and Mitigation program. It helps ensure we have the scientific data needed to understand potential risks, require additional studies when information is missing, and put protective measures in place when necessary. As of June 2026, seven reevaluations are currently underway. DPR’s Midyear Continuous Evaluation and Mitigation Update is now available.

This update tracks 19 areas of work and shows exactly where each review stands, helping Californians see how we identify and address pesticide risks. It also introduces a reevaluation of total release foggers, often called “bug bombs.”
