Wildlife Rescue Team

Wildlife Rescue Team is a state licensed mammal rescue; located right here in St Charles. As the cold weather blows in, there will be an increased need for emergency care of injured and/or neglected animals.
We have provided drop off locations at SCPD and Devwoods from now through November 1 and the attached "wish list"; please help us by donating.
Halloween would be a great day to stop in and drop off items.
Thank you!

The Governor’s Order regarding masks is NOT a law and has not been promulgated into law. We will not be treating it as such, nor issuing citations.
We will respond to complaints which come into Saginaw County Dispatch Center as we are obligated to respond to all calls for service.
Since the beginning of this crisis, if there is a violation, it is sent to the Health Division or AG for follow-up.
Zero tickets and zero citations have been given out since March. Privately owned business and entities do have the right to refuse service to anyone. If an individual is refused service or entry and the individual causes a disturbance, they would be subject to criminal penalties.
Please be mindful of others, we will get through this time together.

There's been a rash of property damage to windows in the Village. Mostly along Saginaw St. Apparently someone is going around town shooting windows with a BB or pellet gun. If anyone knows the person or persons responsible please contact the St. Charles Police Dept.

Are we going to have to lock up the community composting area because people cannot follow the rules!? This area is designed for composting of leaves and grass. NOT for plastic bags, brush, garbage, stones, plastic or other wood products. We are not impressed by whoever left the plastic bags and wood items.

Anyone have an update on the closure of M-52 north of St. Charles?
Today on our daily trail walk we saw this shoe tree near the big iron bicycle on the railtrail. We couted 10 pairs os shoes. Hopefully the owner will find them.
Officer Burk thank you for helping my daughter Izzy navigate her way home tonight.
Is Julie Church an officer on your force? It has been reported that she made a Good Samaritan turn two lost dogs loose on a dirt road. Is this true? What is your protocol for found dogs?
The officer that made the lady turn the dogs loose should be fired! It is their job to "Serve and Protect" Humans and animals. Also loose dogs can cause car accidents, bite out of fear or injury. etc. Michigan has leash laws that cover the whole state! These dogs were under someone's control and officer Church ordered her to release them. This is totally unacceptable conduct from a law enforcement officer! Why did you remove my previous post, do you not want the public to know how this officer acted? Trust me the public knows it's on Facebook! I would suggest you take the proper action regarding officer Church so that the public knows the department does not allow and hide this type of conduct.
The officer (Church) who ordered the lady to turn the dogs loose should be fired immediately! It was their job to "Serve and Protect" Humans and Animals. Michigan has leash laws covering entire state. These dogs were under someone's control and this officer with no compassion or regard for safety to these dogs and humans alike ordered them released. Also loose dogs can cause car accidents, bite out of fear or injury, etc. This is totally unacceptable behavior by a law enforcement officer.
St. Charles Police Department, can you please explain....yesterday there were 2 stray/lost dogs in poor condition running down the middle of the street, a compassionate citizen was able to get these dogs safely into her vehicle in order to get them help and get them out of harms way. Please tell us why one of your officers would instruct this citizen to go back to said location and dump these dogs in the street???? Not only is this a moral failure but that put the safety of those dogs as well as the safety of your citizens at risk!!! This is outrageous coming from law enforcement.
What kind of police officer would turn two dogs loose in a road after someone took the time to catch them and make sure they were safe? The officer who released two lost dogs out on the road tonight should find themselves without a job. Very disheartening any department would even employ somebody of these ethics. If the other dog is found dead that is all on you. These two dogs were safe!
2 dogs were running in your area and a citizen was able to catch them but when they called to have them taken to safety, your officer made her release them with the comment that hopefully they find the way home😠 Really? There is a storm coming and this is how you handle this situation. Those dogs may have been chipped. I'm very disappointed in the handling by your officer.
Why on God’s green earth would one of your officers advise ladies to turn two very emaciated dogs loose when they tried to turn them in with an impending storm coming!!! RIDICULOUS!!! How very humane of you! 🙄 I would post the pictures but I can’t. It’s not an option. The rescue community will be making phone calls. 😡
Sorry, but I just needed to say this. Friends and neighbors, Please keep watch for school bus flashers. Yesterday on North St the afternoon bus was stopped, yellow flashers on when the driver just flipped them to red, an SUV drove right past the bus. The bus driver beeped the horn and had not opened the door to let the little one off. This is too close for comfort. Please be aware. Thanks
