Merced Housing Texas

Merced Housing Texas Our mission is to provide quality, affordable, service-enriched housing for individuals and families Services are provided on-site or through a referral system.

What We Do: Overview

Multi-Family Housing Program
Merced owns or has developed 13 quality, affordable homes for 1,450 families in these Texas cities: San Antonio, Somerset, Conroe, Corpus Christi, Fort Worth, Karnes City and Goliad. Through our multi-family, single-family and Owner-Occupied Emergency Repairs Programs, Merced serves more than 1,949 households. When developments currently in the

pipeline are complete, Merced will serve more than 2,984 households in Bexar, Montgomery, Nueces and Goliad counties in Texas. At Merced, we believe in providing more than simply shelter. In keeping with our mission, we provide services at our multi-family properties that support residents’ efforts to raise healthy families and become self-sufficient, fully participating members of society. Resident Services Program
At each multi-family property, we provide services to help residents achieve self sufficiency. The Resident Services program has four focus areas: youth, education and employment, financial literacy, and health. A Resident Services Coordinator works at each property to bring events, activities and resources to residents. A significant percentage of residents in two of Merced's multi-family properties are military families, and Merced considers the special needs of military families. Single-Family Program
Merced’s Single-Family Program revitalizes inner-city neighborhoods by providing home-ownership opportunities to low-income families. Merced acquires dilapidated homes and completely rehabilitates them or constructs new infill homes and sells them to qualifying low-income families. Serve Our Seniors (SOS)
Minor Repair Program
Through the Serve Our Seniors Minor Repair Program, Merced helps extremely low-income senior and disabled homeowners who cannot afford to keep their homes safe, sanitary or structurally sound. Merced makes health- and safety-related repairs at no cost to the homeowners. The SOS Program enables very low-income senior and disabled persons to stay in the homes they own and love. We also have found that receiving SOS assistance often restores faith and hope to seniors whose existence has become bleak because of their limited means.

In recognition of National Immunization Awareness Month, residents at Stablewood Farms Apartments recently attended a Vaccine Awareness Presentation led by Mycah, Health Program Specialist with the City of San Antonio Metro Health Immunizations Clinic. πŸ’‰

The presentation allowed residents to learn more about recommended vaccines, ask questions, and access trusted information to help them make informed decisions about their health and their families' health.

At Merced Housing Texas, our Resident Services program is committed to addressing the social determinants of health by bringing educational resources and wellness opportunities directly into the communities we serve. By connecting residents with local health experts, we're helping create healthier and stronger communities.

A special thank you to Mycah and the City of San Antonio Metro Health Immunizations Clinic for partnering with us to empower residents through education and awareness.

πŸŽ’πŸ“š Back to School at The Artisan at Willow Springs!

A new school year is just around the corner, and families at The Artisan at Willow Springs came together for a Back-to-School Bash filled with community, connection, and support.

Thanks to the generosity of our partners, 36 families and 82 resident children received much-needed backpacks and school supplies to help them head into the new school year prepared. We were especially grateful to see how much these resources meant to the parents and families who attended.

A big thank you to Royal Public Schools, Admore Behavioral Therapy, Parenting Help, IDEA Najim, Verizon, HEB, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and Panda Express for helping make the event possible. πŸ’™

And thank you to everyone who showed up to support our residents and help make back-to-school a little brighter for the children who call The Artisan home.

Here's to a great school year! πŸŽ“βœοΈ

πŸ“š Did You Know?

When families spend too much of their income on housing, everyday school essentials can become difficult to afford.

According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, 91% of extremely low-income households are cost-burdened, meaning they spend more than 30% of their income on housing and utilities.

As a new school year approaches, many parents face impossible choices between paying rent, buying groceries, or purchasing backpacks, school supplies, shoes, and clothing.

At Merced Housing Texas, we believe no child should have to start the school year without the tools they need to succeed. Stable housing creates stronger futures for students and their families.

πŸ””πŸŽ’Because a successful school year starts long before the first bell rings. Follow our Back-to-School series as we explore how housing stability, basic needs, and community support help students succeed.

Aging in SA – Virtual Town Hall is coming up on August 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM (Central Time). This online focus group invites people who are 60 years of age or older and live in San Antonio to share experiences and opinions about aging in our city.

If you were born before 1967, you can join a 60–90 minute group discussion on Zoom. You may answer or skip any question, and participation is completely voluntary.

Conversations like this help shape how our community plans for aging, accessibility, and inclusion over time. When older adults share their voice, it informs systems change that benefits people with disabilities and the broader community. We encourage eligible community members to register and take part.
