We were thrilled to host our first-ever The Launch luncheon in support of Sewing for Success! 🧵

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with community, connection, and a celebration of the talent and hard work of our Sewing for Success participants.

Sewing for Success is a workforce development program that provides hands-on sewing training and job readiness skills, helping individuals build confidence, gain valuable experience, and work toward employment and financial independence.

A heartfelt thank you to our event chair, Dr. Charlotte Immenschuh, our sponsors, Dr. Kimberly Trayhan, Julie Mellin, and Thread Studio, as well as everyone who joined us, supported the event, and shopped handcrafted items. We are grateful for community partners including SAS shoes, Richter Goods, and Jon Hart. Every purchase helps fund training materials, equipment, and educational opportunities that create meaningful pathways toward self-sufficiency. 💙

Our After School Program children stepped into the world of science!🧪

They learned how to use microscopes and explored different samples up close.

Hands-on activities like this give our students the opportunity to try something new, ask questions, and discover just how exciting learning can be. 🔬

We love seeing their curiosity come to life!

Help us create more activities and opportunities for our kids. Learn more on our website - https://ccaosa.org/after-school-program/

Today marks the beginning of National Migration Week.
From September 21–27, we join together to reflect on the migrants, refugees, and families who have journeyed in search of safety, hope, and a better future.

Every journey carries a unique story. With courage, resilience, hope, and the pursuit of new opportunities, National Migration Week is an opportunity to provide awareness and recognize the individuals and families building new beginnings while contributing to the communities they now call home.

May this week remind us that behind every journey is a person, a family, and a story worthy of compassion. 🌎

Pope Leo has chosen the theme “Even just one of these children,” from the words of the Lord: "Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me" (Mt 18:5).
The Vatican has explained that the Holy Father intends "to express the Church's concern for minors directly involved in migration, recalling the duty to welcome each one of them as the Gospel teaches us."

We were grateful to welcome volunteers from the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) for joining us as they participate in their 11th annual Meet the Mission Day. They gave their time across several of our programs, such as St. Stephen’s CARE Center and Guadalupe Community Center.

From lending a hand to sharing their time and energy, UIW volunteers showed what it means to come together in service of our community. Every helping hand makes a difference and allows us to continue providing hope and support to our neighbors in need. 🫂

Thank you for showing up and serving alongside us! We are grateful for your continued commitment to making our community a better place. ❤️
