We have released our annual Impact Report for Fiscal Year 2025-2026!

San Francisco permitted 309 productions this fiscal year– up 28% from 241 last year– generating an estimated $32.3 million in direct local spending, an 84.6% increase over the previous year's $17.5 million.

Major projects filmed in San Francisco this year include Luca Guadagnino’s "Artificial", Leah McKendrick’s "Voicemails for Isabelle", Sean Durkin’s "Deep Cuts", Kelly O’Sullivan’s "The Steel Harp", and Joe Talbot’s "Believe in SF" campaign.

Film SF wants to hear from you! This summer, Film SF | San Francisco Film Commission and Grants for the Arts officially became part of the San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC).

With the help of the arts management consulting firm AMS Planning & Research, SFAC is currently developing an updated strategic plan to guide the work of all of its departments - including Film SF - over the next five years.

To inform that plan, we’re seeking input from all members of San Francisco’s film community.

We want to hear your thoughts on how Film SF has been working, what it can do better, and what the SFAC's five-year plan should prioritize to best serve the city's film community.

Independent Filmmaking in the Age of AI", organized in conjunction with the short film "Road Rage", will be an evening of conversation and networking where filmmakers and AI experts will discuss AI's meaning for the future of independent film.

Panelists will explore how AI-powered tools can empower independent and under-resourced filmmakers while addressing urgent questions around labor, copyright, creativity, disclosure, and responsibility to audiences.

Beth de Araújo's "Josephine" is coming to the Mill Valley Film Festival!

"Josephine", which used the "Scene in San Francisco" incentive, is a thriller-drama follows an 8-year-old Josephine who accidentally witnesses a crime in Golden Gate Park and acts out in search of a way to regain control of her safety, while adults are helpless to console her.

Beth de Araújo will be honored with the MVFF Award for Bay Area Rising Star for directing "Josephine", which won the Sundance Film Festival's Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and US Dramatic Audience Award.

Born and raised in San Francisco, de Araújo returns home with a film shot largely in Golden Gate Park, marking her as one of the most promising new directors with deep Bay Area roots.
