Willow Glen Cares WGMS WGHS Willow Glen Cares supports under-resourced students at Willow Glen Middle and High School.

It may surprise some to know that about 30% of students at Willow Glen Middle and High School are underprivileged. They are struggling financially for many different reasons, and some are homeless. These young people face numerous barriers to graduating from high school and raising themselves out of their difficult situations. Since Willow Glen Cares began, 90% of students served by WG Cares have

improved their attendance, GPA, or both. By discreetly helping students meet their basic needs, and providing resources, encouragement, and enrichment, we help students improve their grades, attendance, test scores, and self-esteem. This reduces truancy and at-risk behaviors, and opens up many doors of opportunity.

School starts in less than a week and we’ve been busy so we can support students in need at WGMS and WGHS. Our Supply Room is stocked and ready to open the week of August 10. Supplying students in financial need with basic necessities, such as deodorant, shampoo, and soap, enables them to focus on their school work and attend school with dignity. That means attendance, grades, and graduation rates improve.

Every dollar stays right here in Willow Glen and goes to the students at Willow Glen Middle School and Willow Glen High School who need it most. And every gift is fully tax deductible.

This is why we do what we do.

When a student tells us that Willow Glen Cares gives their family things they simply couldn't have otherwise — that's not just a supply room. That's a community showing up.

More than 400 students count on us every year for personal care items, school supplies, snacks, holiday gifts, and the little things that make school feel like a place they belong.

School starts August 6th. We're raising $25,000 before then — and every dollar stays right here in our neighborhood.

Most people think of us as a supply room. And yes — every month, more than 130 students stop by for shampoo, deodorant, period products, and school supplies their families can't afford.

But what Willow Glen Cares actually does goes much further than that.

We make sure no student has to sit out the moments that define their school years. A uniform so no one stands out for the wrong reason. A yearbook so 8th graders and seniors have something to remember their year by. College application fees are covered because their future education matters too.

We're raising $25,000 before August 6th. That way we'll be able to stock our supply room with much needed items and be able to help students from the first day of school. Donate at www.wgcares.org.
