It can be difficult to think of the perfect summer activity for you and your family that's affordable. Summer camps are expensive, but you don't want your family sitting at home, bored. Here in Santa Clara County, you don't have to break the bank to have fun — you can have a blast, for free, in our 28 beautiful parks.

The Santa Clara County Parks team has something for everyone, whether that's interactions with farm animals for the little ones, or relaxing tai chi for our elders. Personally, I know when my kids were little, we used our County parks all the time because they couldn't get enough time outside (and neither could I). This is just a snapshot of all of the amazing opportunities our parks are offering this month, free of charge.

A perfect summer picnic starts with a blanket, your favorite treats, and a trip to one of our Santa Clara County Parks! Whether you're sharing sandwiches by the lake, playing games on the grass, or simply relaxing under the trees, a picnic is one of the easiest (and most fun!) ways to enjoy the outdoors. I still cherish the memories of countless summer afternoons with my kids spent in our County parks because it's such a perfect activity for families.

I recently picked up my free Santa Clara County Parks parking pass at the Campbell Library, and it couldn't have been easier!

With this pass, families can enjoy free parking at all 28 County parks for three weeks at a time, all summer long. Just stop by your local Santa Clara County Library District - SCCLD branch, make sure you have a library card, check out a pass from a librarian, and you and your family are ready for your next outdoor adventure. I know my kids and I spent countless days in the sun in our parks when they were little, creating memories we still talk about today.
