Santa Clara County Parks is hosting a wildfire training at Coyote Creek Parkway from June 15 – 19 with support from Santa Clara County Fire Department.

The training is scheduled to include a live burn on June 17 and 18, weather permitting, between 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. There is a possibility of live fire on June 19 as well.

Smoke may be visible from locations around the county during this window. If you see smoke coming from the area, please do not call 911. Firefighters will already be on scene.

This controlled burn serves a dual purpose: it clears out overgrown brush to naturally reduce wildfire risks and promote native habitat growth, while giving firefighters vital, hands-on experience with live fire operations ahead of peak wildfire season.
