Congratulations on your retirement, Captain Stephanie Landgraf! 🎉 After more than 27 years in law enforcement, including 15 years serving San Luis Obispo County, Correctional Captain Stephanie Landgraf officially retired from the Sheriff’s Office this month, with her final day on Friday.

Captain Landgraf’s career has taken her through nearly every level of correctional leadership, from Correctional Deputy and Facility Training Officer to Sergeant, Lieutenant, and ultimately Captain. She was promoted to Correctional Captain in March 2021 and has spent the past five years leading the Sheriff’s Office Correctional Division and serving as the highest-ranking member of our Jail.

Throughout her career, Captain Landgraf has been known for her professionalism, high standards, attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to developing the people around her. She has helped guide the Jail through significant changes in corrections, championed training and best practices, and worked alongside county and community partners to continually improve the services we provide.

Under her leadership, the San Luis Obispo County Jail achieved national accreditation from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care in 2022, recognizing its commitment to providing quality health services to incarcerated individuals.

But perhaps one of Captain Landgraf’s greatest contributions has been the people she has mentored and the leaders she has helped develop along the way. Her impact will continue through the many members of our team who had the opportunity to learn from her and serve alongside her.

Captain Landgraf, thank you for more than 27 years of dedicated service and for the leadership, professionalism, and heart you brought to the Sheriff's Office. We are incredibly grateful for all you have given to this organization and our community.

Congratulations on your retirement, Stephanie! We wish you all the best in this next chapter, you’ve certainly earned it. 👏🫡

🎒📚 Stuff the Bus! Today, our School Resource Deputies dropped off school supplies at United Way of San Luis Obispo County as part of the annual Stuff the Bus drive.

Our SROs spend their days building relationships with students, supporting them at school and being part of their lives beyond the classroom. So helping local kids start the school year with the tools they need is especially meaningful to us. We all have a stake in our next generation, and supporting education is one way we can help them build a bright future.

This year, the Sworn Deputy Sheriffs’ Association donated more than $500 in school supplies to help students across SLO County start the year ready to learn.

We’re proud to support a program that keeps these donations right here in our community, and grateful for everyone helping local students start the school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed. ❤️📓✏️

The Sheriff's Office has issued a press release regarding a child sexual abuse arrest.

On 8-5-2026, the Sheriff's Office Detective Division served a search warrant in the 100 block of South Fourth Street in Shandon as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.
As a result of the investigation, Detectives arrested 67-year-old Javier RiveraMojica of Shandon without incident. RiveraMojica was booked on a no-bail arrest warrant for multiple counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.
During the investigation, Detectives learned RiveraMojica allegedly gained access to numerous victims through an unlicensed daycare that he and his wife were operating from their residence in the 100 block of South Fourth Street in Shandon.
The investigation remains active, and Detectives are asking anyone with information related to this case, or anyone who believes they or someone they know may have had contact with RiveraMojica under similar circumstances, to contact the Sheriff's Office Detective Division at (805) 781-4500.
Investigators are working to determine whether there are additional victims or witnesses who have not yet come forward.
The victims in this case have been offered victim advocacy and support services. The Sheriff's Office remains committed to their safety and well-being throughout the investigation.
This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at this time.

Did you know that Diablo Canyon Power Plant is the only operating commercial nuclear power plant in California?

This means that FEMA evaluates San Luis Obispo County departments and partner agencies, including the City of Pismo Beach and Port San Luis, and our ability to protect public health and safety.

Yesterday, we demonstrated this through a full scale EOC-based exercise (with multiple locations participating) simulating an event with a radiological release from Diablo.

Thank you to everyone who participated and the hard work you do to protect our community!

The Sheriff's Office has issued a press release regarding our response to SB 54 compliance.

On 7-24-2026, the Tribune newspaper published a story suggesting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees may have been released by the Sheriff's Office in violation of California Senate Bill 54 (SB 54). At the time, the Sheriff's Office provided a brief response but did not address the specific individuals referenced in the article.
Under California law, the Sheriff's Office is prohibited from publicly disclosing an individual's state criminal history information, commonly referred to as a "RAP sheet." State summary criminal history information maintained by the California Department of Justice is confidential under California Penal Code section 11105. Law enforcement agencies may access this information only for authorized law enforcement purposes and generally may not redisclose it to unauthorized people, including members of the public or the media. As a result, the Sheriff's Office cannot release information that would reveal an individual's criminal history in response to media inquiries or public requests.
After reviewing the article and the underlying information, the Sheriff's Office can confirm that, in every case referenced, it acted in full compliance with SB 54.
To promote transparency, the Sheriff's Office has created a public website that provides the maximum amount of information permitted under California law regarding SB 54 compliance. While legal restrictions prevent the release of confidential criminal history information, the Sheriff's Office remains committed to providing the public with as much information as possible.
If any member of the public believes the Sheriff's Office is not complying with SB 54, they may contact the California Attorney General's Office. The Sheriff's Office is required to report relevant SB 54 compliance data to the Attorney General and would fully cooperate with any review by providing specific information that cannot legally be disclosed to the public.

Kids Day at the California Mid-State Fair called for a special guest! 🦊💙

Last night, Red E. Fox stopped by the Fair to say hello to all the kids and spend some time with his Sheriff’s Dispatcher friends talking about 9-1-1. Through fun conversations and smiles, our dispatchers helped teach young fairgoers when it’s appropriate to call 9-1-1 and reminded them that they’re always here to help when there’s a real emergency.

It’s the final weekend of the Fair, so be sure to say hello when you see our team! 🎡
