Yesterday at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Socorro Fire Department was dispatched to the 14600 block of Socorro Road to provide mutual aid to the Fabens Fire Department for a farm shed fire involving several large round bales of alfalfa and multiple pieces of farm equipment that were fully engulfed.

Crews worked tirelessly throughout the night and into the early morning hours to bring the incident under control.

A total of 10 apparatus and 36 firefighters responded to the scene.

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners from Horizon Fire Department, Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Fire Department, Clint Fire Department, San Elizario Fire Department, Fabens Fire Department, and the El Paso County Fire Marshal’s Office for their assistance and teamwork throughout this incident.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., Socorro fire department responded to the 500 block of Polep Way, Socorro Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Fire Department with setting up a landing zone for EPFD’s FireStar following a motorcycle accident.

Socorro Fire Department remains committed to always assisting neighboring departments and helping provide the best possible outcome for our Socorro residents.

To the dads of the Socorro Fire Department, thank you for answering the call at any hour while also being role models, protectors, and heroes to your families. Your commitment to serving others often means sacrificing time at home, and that sacrifice never goes unnoticed.
We also honor all fathers throughout our community who work tirelessly to provide, support, and inspire the next generation.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than a holiday, it is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy each day. Their legacy lives on through our gratitude, our remembrance, and our commitment to never forget.
