On this bright and sunny morning, district officials, community members, our partners with the Ballmer Group (MoveUp Southeast Michigan) and Oakland Connects gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the newly opened Food Pantry located within Kennedy Learning Center.

Through our thriving partnership with Oakland Connects and the Ballmer Group (MoveUp Southeast Michigan), Southfield Public Schools continues to develop and establish programs and initiatives that support our scholars beyond the classroom. As a district, we recognize that scholars and families may have needs outside of the classroom, that have the potential to impact their educational experience. With this in mind, Superintendent Dr.Green, in partnership with Oakland Connects and the Ballmer Group worked diligently bring this program to our scholars and families.

The food pantry, located inside the building at Kennedy Learning Center, will be managed (with the support of our amazing educators) by our KLC scholars, and is here to provide scholars throughout the district with food and small household items they may need.

This program, along with the district’s community health workers program, is the result of the our continued partnership with the Ballmer Group and Oakland Connects, and we are so grateful to be a part of this work to meet the needs of the whole scholar.

Here at Southfield Public Schools we will continue to design every aspect of our district with excellence in mind.
