Southfield Public Schools scholars and families participate in the district’s 2026 Back-to-School Fair on Friday, August 7th at the Southfield Municipal Campus.

With more than 3,000 individuals participating, with the support of so many community partners and volunteers, the event was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together in service of our scholars and community.

Southfield Public Schools and Adler Elementary School had the honor and privilege of hosting Governor Gretchen Whitmer for the signing of the 2027 School Aid Fund Bill.

This monumental legislation establishes a record minimum per student ($10,300), continues the statewide free breakfast and lunch programs, implements a weighted funding formula, and includes comprehensive investments in expanding pre-K programs and funding dedicated to the science of reading.

Our Superintendent, Dr. Jennifer Green, and Adler Elementary School Principal Alma Deane, spoke to the audience about the value and importance of the legislation within the bill, and the lasting impact it will have on current students and future students and educators.

We are steadfast in our dedication to positioning our scholars for success.

We are honored for our students, educators, staff, and community to be a part of this historic event.

The event to kick off the 26-27 school year is fastly approaching! The Southfield Public Schools Annual Back-To-School Fair is back, and we are so thrilled to announce a new and exciting partnership with the City of Southfield. For the first time ever, we will host the fair at the Southfield Municipal Campus✨

This collaboration represents the commitment and dedication of both our staff and the City of Southfield to bring the community and our families together as we welcome in a new school year‼️

University K12 Academy incoming freshman, Lauryn Banks, spoke to the audience about her optimism as an incoming freshman, as well as her enthusiasm for the future as she will be among the first graduating senior class in the new building. 🎓

Lauryn shares her excitement for the future ahead and her gratitude for the community support of the bond, the work being done, and above all, the opportunities students will be afforded as a result the advances of the new building.
