We are proud to announce that we have become the first Fire & EMS agency in the United States to achieve Obstetric Life Support (OBLS) certification.

Led by Lt. Benjamin Sutton, a National OBLS Faculty member, more than 80% of our workforce completed this advanced maternal emergency training program.

This certification strengthens our ability to respond to critical pregnancy-related emergencies and reflects our commitment to providing the highest level of care to our community.

We enjoyed attending The GVTC Foundation award presentation breakfast the other morning. It was great to see so many community partners gathered and to celebrate the impact being made across the region.

A sincere thank you again to The GVTC Foundation for the grant supporting our Community Risk Reduction program. That support directly helps us expand education and prevention efforts in the community.

Today we celebrated the outstanding achievements and contributions of our team at our Annual Awards event. The ceremony was made even more meaningful thanks to the incredible hospitality of Knibbe Ranch and the beautiful blessing shared by Linda Bartle, which brought warmth and inspiration to the ceremony.

Our heartfelt thanks to our neighboring departments for providing coverage to our area and enabling our on-duty crews to participate in the celebration: Blanco County ESD 2, Bexar-Bulverde Fire Department, Boerne Fire Department, Comal County ESD No. 3 (Canyon Lake Fire / EMS), and Schertz Emergency Medical Services.

We are incredibly grateful to The GVTC Foundation for awarding funding in support of our Community Risk Reduction Program.

This funding will help us continue placing lifesaving knowledge directly into the hands of our citizens through no-cost CPR, Stop the Bleed, AED, fire extinguisher, and emergency preparedness training. The first few minutes of an emergency matter, and prepared bystanders can truly make a difference before first responders arrive.

Thank you for believing in the importance of neighbors helping neighbors and for helping us build a safer, more prepared community.
