Sometimes it's a perfect paper.
Sometimes it's drawing of a stick person or scribble.
But listen to the voice saying:
"Look what I did!"
Before we notice what's right, wrong, neat, messy, there's some else to notice. They are INVITING us into their world.
Delight first.
"Tell me about this."

Less pressure. More presence.

They walked into a classroom.
Stood beside friends.
Waited in line.
Maybe shuffled nervously under a desk.
And now they're back by your door.
When they come home, leave a little room before filling the silence with questions
"What made you laugh today?"
Less pressure. More presence.

Before asking if everything is packed, notice the child wearing the backpack.

“What are you looking forward to?”
