🥂✨ This elegant monteith bowl was given to Eugene Field’s grandmother as a wedding gift in 1764.

Designed for entertaining, the bowl would have been filled with ice or ice water while stemmed glassware hung along the scalloped edges to chill. 🍷❄️

🍷✨ Featured in our newest exhibit, Crossroads of Cultures, is a striking mix of historic tableware connected to St. Louis’s Czech heritage.

Part of the section exploring Bohemian Hill, a historic Czech neighborhood in St. Louis, the display includes etched red wine decanters and glasses that once belonged to Eugene Field, alongside beautiful porcelain pieces representing the area’s cultural traditions. 🏛️📖

🛏️🏛️ This historic bed once belonged to Hamilton Gamble, a key figure in Missouri’s Civil War-era history.

Gamble served as Missouri’s governor during the Civil War, was the lone dissenter in the Dred Scott case when it was heard by the Missouri Supreme Court, and was also a neighbor of Roswell Field on Walsh’s Row. 📜✨
