On July 19, 2026, at approximately 6:13 p.m., an officer with the Stanley Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 2 near mile marker 92 after observing the vehicle traveling 97 mph in a posted 70 mph zone.
After the officer informed the driver that he was under arrest for reckless driving, the driver fled the scene on foot. The officer immediately initiated a foot pursuit. The suspect ran through nearby fields and multiple farmsteads before officers were able to take him into custody.
While officers were taking the suspect into custody, an unknown vehicle arrived at the scene. Two individuals exited the vehicle and refused to comply with repeated, lawful, verbal commands from law enforcement.
