The Texas Health and Human Services Commission has a volunteer Foster Grandparent Program:
• Use your time and talents to make a difference in children’s lives.
• People 55 or older with limited incomes can volunteer to mentor children.
• Volunteers can earn a tax-free stipend by serving 15-40 hours a week.
• Children do not live with their foster grandparents.
• From July 2025 through June 2026, foster grandparents have served 16,772 children while volunteering 347,581 hours.
