Take a close look at these photos and see if you can identify this Tulsa District Lake.

The lake was authorized by Congress in 1928 for flood control. Authorizations for irrigation and municipal water supply storage for the city of Enid followed in 1946 and 1948. However, Enid did not access the storage rights were later reassigned. The project was started in 1940 but WWII temporarily halted construction. After the war, work resumed and the project was completed in lake 1948.

These plants benefit approximately 2 million end users throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and Louisiana.

Construction began in 1942, was suspended during World War II, and resumed in May 1946. The project became fully operational when the last of four generators started producing commercial power in September 1953.
