North Hudson Firefighters Association - IAFF Local 3950

North Hudson Firefighters Association - IAFF Local 3950 Firefighters Labor Union Hense, the North Hudson Firefighters Association was established.

In 1999 when five municipalities consisting of Guttenberg, North Bergen, Weehawken, West New York and Union City unilaterally decided to merge their individual fire departments into a single department under the newly created North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, they disrupted long term collective bargaining groups and firefighter international and fraternal organizations. In direct response to

this, the firefighter organizations of West New York/Guttenberg IAFF local 620, Weehawken FMBA local 26, Union City FMBA local 12 and North Bergen IAFF local 1387 formed a singular organization to protect its members from any forms of injustice; to secure just compensation for their services and equitable settlement of their grievances; to promote the establishment of just and reasonable working conditions and strive constantly for their improvement; to improve the efficiency of its members; and to cultivate friendship and fellowship among its members.

From the firehouse to the Garden, North Hudson Firefighters Union is all in for the New York Knicks! The area is buzzing, the Garden is rocking, and we’re ready for a championship run. Bring it home, NYC! 🏀🔥

And who knows—if the Knicks win it all, maybe the Chief will let us wear a little orange with the blue uniforms! 😆

Today is a heavy day.

A United States veteran, a firefighter, and a man who spent his life serving others, is gone.

Sometimes people carry pain that no one can see. A uniform can make someone look strong, but it does not mean they are not hurting. It does not mean they do not need someone to check on them.

To every firefighter, veteran, first responder, and anyone fighting something in silence: you are not weak for speaking up. You are not a burden. You are not alone.

We spend so much of our lives showing up for other people. Sometimes, we have to let someone show up for us.

Check on your people. Call them. Sit with them. Ask twice. Listen. Be present.

And if you are hurting, please reach out. To a friend. To family. To someone in your firehouse. To someone who will stay with you through the moment.

Your life matters. Your story matters. The people who love you need you here.

Rest easy, brother. Your service mattered. Your life mattered. You mattered.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988.

Yesterday, history was made in North Hudson.
Congratulations to our three members, Brian Raparelli, Steve Irving, and Lisa Napier on their promotion to the rank of Captain! During the ceremony we also gained 13 new probationary members.

A special congratulations to Captain Napier, who becomes the first female Captain in North Hudson history. Your hard work, dedication, and leadership have paved the way for future generations.

We would also like to extend our congratulations to North Hudson Fire Officers IAFF L3951 member Captain Perez on his well-earned promotion to the rank of Battalion Chief. Wishing him continued success and safety as he takes on this new leadership role.

We would also like to thank our Directors and Board Members for their continued support, dedication, and commitment to our members and organization.

Firefighters handle all types of emergencies—fires, rescues… and apparently kitten retrieval from storm drains.

This little guy called 911 the old-fashioned way (loud meowing), and now he’s safe, sound, and officially part of the crew. 🐾🚒

Great job guys!

🚒☘️ North Hudson Firefighters were proud to take part in the Guttenberg St. Patrick's Day Parade today! ☘️🚒

A special congratulations to our brother Rich Nichols, who was honored as Irishman of the Year. Your dedication to the job and our community makes us all proud.

We'd also like to recognize Battalion Chief Mike Giacumbo, who served as a Parade Marshal for this year's celebration. A well-deserved honor for a leader who represents the department with pride every day.

Great day celebrating Irish heritage, brotherhood, and the North Hudson family!

🎃👮‍♂️Union City PBA Local 8 held its ninth annual Trick or Treat with a Cop event. Many Union City Police Department officers participated in the event, handing out treats to the kids at the corner of Bergenline Avenue and 32nd Street. The locals enjoyed interacting with the community, and our members were happy to help ensure all residents had a safe Halloween. Let's take a moment to thank our officers who came out to make this event safe and successful!🙌
