✨️Shelfie Sunday✨️

Only we're using this sunday to remind our friends, even after the big book sale, we have a sale shelf. As we're sorting through books, we try to place new books at least once a month!

When you stop by the book sale, what authors are you frequently looking for?!?

We know the parties responsible for this damage, there has been communication and we know there are feelings of remorse.

10 days ago we made a post talking about our story trail and how it had been impacted by minor vandalism, again accidents happen. However, we know this was not an accident. Now, it looks like the story trail will be no more.

The friends act as a board and have to have the votes to approve funding for all of our projects, people were already hesitant to fund the trail for this very reason.

While we do have the funds to redo this whole thing, it's hard not to feel like we'd be throwing time and money away on something that, clearly, has the potential to be ruined very quickly.

While the friends are done with our giant fundraiser for the year, we want to remind everyone that supporting ALL libraries is essential!

The Cove library holds their book sale during Cherry fest every year, so if you're out and about, try to stop by and find a treasure to support them!

There will be a donation can set out, but the Cove librarian will be there at 9.

As we hope you've seen, the friends sponsored a trial of a story trail because we think it would be a great addition to the city park, we got overwhelming positive feed back! (other than the size of the print.) When initiating this trial, one concern was the potential for vandalism.

We waited to get a little more information before bringing this to anyone's attention.

Sometime Saturday night, we are aware, that several of these signs were intentionally removed and damaged.

We know accidents happen and we don't expect for these signs to stay in pristine condition forever. However, we would like them to be kept in the best condition we can manage. We do hope that community members remember even seemingly small projects like this, cost hundreds of dollars, not to mention the man hours to put them together.

This will be the 2nd week we skip our ✨sunday shelfie️✨️ post.
We know our volunteers have seen enough books this week to last them a while.

Here's a small before and after from this weekend. Everything all set up vs torn down this morning!

We hope everyone who came out found something to enjoy and thank you to all of our patrons who gave us grace with the lack of organization and our limited number of volunteers for this years sale.

Thank you to the families and volunteers who showed up to help set up and take down every book.

Thank you to City of Union, Oregon workers who worked with us on our early set up time line. We know they want the park to look its very best for grassroots and cutting into a mowing and watering schedule is never ideal.

All money we earn goes to a great cause but we would love to hear opinions on how people feel the money should be spent at Union, OR Carnegie Library!

The winner for this years baking raffle has been drawn and contacted. Thank you to all of our bakers who contributed to our bake sale. We had an almost record breaking year!

Thank you to anyone and everyone that showed up to help set this sale up! With having to move the books multiple times this year, we have never been so excited to send them to their new homes. Come see us tomorrow starting at 8 a.m!
