We would like to send our condolences and honor
Marjane Satrapi, author of the acclaimed graphic novel Persepolis.

She was a leading champion for women’s rights in Iran. Her autobiographical graphic novel became an international best seller and has been translated into more than 20 languages.

If you have not read this amazing book, we highly recommend.

Rest in peace

Rest in power Marjane Satrapi, author of ‘Persepolis’ (1969-2026) 📖 Visit LAPL.org to view and place holds on works by Satrapi including the film on DVD “Chicken with Plums” originally released in 2011.

“Persepolis co-directors Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud make the leap from animation to live action with this expressionistic adaptation of Satrapi’s graphic novel about a mercurial violinist who embraces death and embarks on a surreal journey through the past and future after his beloved instrument is destroyed. Tehran, 1958: Nasser-Ali (Mathieu Amalric) has devoted his entire life to music. The violin bequeathed to him by his musical guru more cherished than his own wife and children, Nasser writes music capable of stirring the soul, and pours his whole heart into every note.”
