This week, Executive Director Marty Mercado and members of our Case Management Team attended the Florida Coalition to End Homelessness Conference in Orlando—an opportunity to connect, learn, and gain valuable insight from others working to end homelessness across Florida.

Marty also shared her experience and expertise through a powerful presentation highlighting the strength of connection and collaboration—and what’s possible when we work together. 🪢

We’re grateful for opportunities to learn from one another, strengthen partnerships, and bring fresh ideas back to the work we do every day at Hope for Families Center.

Together, the strands become the safety net. ❤️

Wendy McDaniel from the UP Center will lead an interactive Poverty Simulation Activity, offering insight into the challenges families experiencing poverty face every day.

A light breakfast will be served. This event is open to all women who want to help create meaningful change for families experiencing homelessness in our community. We hope to see you there! 🦋

Who knew spaghetti and marshmallows could turn into a STEAM challenge? 🍝🤍

Today in Children’s Enrichment, the kids put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work building structures with spaghetti and marshmallows. There was plenty of imagination, a little trial and error, and some friendly competition as they worked to see what they could create! 🏗️

A fun, hands-on learning experience with a little sweet treat along the way! 😋

Another eventful evening in Children’s Enrichment — and this time, our special guest came with fur, whiskers, and four tiny paws! 🐹

Our resident children got to meet a guinea pig up close and learn what these little guys eat, how they communicate, and a few things that make them pretty interesting pets.

Then it was time to put their new guinea pig knowledge to work! The kids completed a fun activity and created and colored their own guinea pig pets — no feeding or cage cleaning required. 😄

Just another night of bringing a little curiosity, creativity, and something unexpected into Children’s Enrichment! 💚

An eventful evening during Children’s Enrichment kicked off with a fun visit from Miss Lydia, our Marketing & Events Coordinator! 📚

Miss Lydia came ready for the occasion wearing her special lab coat & ears 🐶 while the kids made their very own dog ears before the reading of Doctor Dog by Babette Cole. The silly story offered a fun way to talk about healthy habits and taking care of our bodies. 🥼🐾

A special thank you to Miss Lydia for being such a good sport and bringing Doctor Dog to life for our kids! ❤️
