The Minnesota Seedswomen Exhibit has come to the Wabasso Public Library, and will be here through May 15! The exhibit highlights the work of three female entrepreneurs who operated out of Minneapolis at the turn of the 20th century.

Carrie H. Lippincott, Jessie R. Prior, and Emma V. White established and operated their own seed catalog businesses. Their mail order catalogs were distributed nationally and emphasized flower seeds intended for home gardens and domestic use. By utilizing illustrative artwork, visual design, and written descriptions, they competed in a growing national market for mail order goods, and inspired many competitors at a time when business ownership by women was limited.

Today, their stories are preserved in the collections of the Andersen Horticultural Library, located at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska. This travel-size exhibit was designed by the MN Digital Library in partnership with the Andersen Horticultural Library. A special shout out to the Plum Creek Library System for providing promotional handouts which include (drumroll) complimentary flower seeds!

Today is the day! Registration for the Adult Summer Reading Program “Read, White, & Blue” has begun. Stop in, sign up, and pick from 3 unique bingo sheets. Try to cross out as many as you can, because every 'Bingo' you make will earn you a raffle ticket to use toward our prize drawing! Of course, we'll let you pick which prize you want to go in for 😎

Program runs May 5th through August 31st, 2026.
