Congratulations to the winning team for the 5th Annual Heluhelu Quiz Bowl. Mahalo to all those who participated and volunteered for this wonderful event! 1st 🥇 Place - Hawai’i Preparatory Academy KaMakani Crashes the Underworld. 2nd 🥈 Place - The Pagemasters of Kailua Kona Public Library not your Average Book Club. 3rd The Pagemasters of Kailua Kona Public Library - The Bookworms. Thank you to Author Kristiana Kahakauwila (Clairboyance) for being there and charming everyone and being so wonderful with the Keiki, including stopping and asking them all questions like what would their superpower be. Her award winning book Clairboyance centers around a young girl who makes a wish on a umeke bowl to be able to know what boys are thinking. We had a fabulous time for the 5th annual event including giving candy prizes out from Sugar Coast Candy.

Friends of the Library-Waikoloa Region wants to send a Big Mahalo out to our community, donors, vendors and volunteers for making the 2026 5K Walk Run for Literacy such a fabulous and successful event 📚📖♥️🤘🌺. See Aprils article and ad in the next Breeze. We also want to remind you to save the date of April 16th for our Big Island 5th Annual Heluhelu Quiz Bowl. Please come out for the event being held at the Waimea Kahului Town Center. It features teams of 4-7th graders who have spent a year reading and preparing to answer the most questions on these 30 award winning books. Our Quiz Master this year is the author of Clairboyance Kristina Kahakauwila.

Time is running out to register for the annual Friends of the Library-Waikoloa Region 5K Walk/Run for Literacy coming this Saturday, 2/7/26 at Kohala Coffee Co. in the Waikoloa Plaza. Our Online auction will be ending soon too so check out the QR code for both and bid on your favorite items from our Big Island of Hawai’i artists, vendors and some really special experiences!
