As of Today Monday, August 31, 2026, The Arkansas Forestry Commission has upgraded a large portion of Arkansas to a HIGH RISK of Wildfire Danger in the orange color. A Burn Ban remains in effect for the counties in the checkered area including Lawrence County and will remain under a Burn Ban until the County Judge determines conditions have improved significantly.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 10:00 PM on 8-26-2026. Damaging Wind Gusts and Hail are the main threats.

As of 8:50 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026 , 467 customers are reported to be out of power from this afternoon's thunderstorms. Power crews from Craighead Electric and Entergy will be working into the night to restore power.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Lawrence County until 3:00 AM on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Damaging Winds and Hail are the main threats, however there is a low chance for a Tornado.

Lawrence County will have Class IV dumpsters available
September 14th, through September l9th. The dumpsters are for
non-household waste, such as appliances and furniture. No tires,
shingles, building materials, etc. will be accepted.
The dumpsters will be located at the Lawrence County Roacl
Shop on Highway 367, south of Hoxie. The dumpsters will be
available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, September l4th,
through Friday, September 18th ancl from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or
until the dumpster becomes full on Saturday, September l9th.
The dumpster will no longer be available for dumping after
noon or when it becomes full on Saturday.
