This November, the B20 comes to Washington, DC for the first time. Ahead of the annual summit, there is no better time to reflect on how this powerful forum came to be.

It all started in 2009, when the global financial crisis had upended the world economy. As governments worked to rebuild, there was a growing recognition that the private sector needed a voice in shaping policies and solutions.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, alongside a coalition of international business federations, worked to create the B20. Seventeen years later, the B20 arrives in Washington, D.C., bringing together thousands of business leaders from around the world on November 9–11.

The B20's story is one of foresight, collaboration, and the enduring power of the private sector to achieve a more prosperous future.
